AVGC Sector in 2024

Growth and Potential

Experts in the media and entertainment industry predict a substantial growth rate of 14–16% for the AVGC sector in India over the next decade. The government recognizes the sector’s potential to generate employment for over 20 lakh people in the next ten years. In line with this vision, various state governments, such as Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, are formulating policies to support the growth of the AVGC industry. The Karnataka government has already released a draft biotechnology and AVGC-XR policy, emphasizing the sector’s strategic importance.

Job Opportunities and Skills

Currently providing 1.85 million direct jobs and an additional 30,000 indirect jobs, the AVGC industry is expected to create another 20 lakh jobs by 2030. To thrive in this industry, individuals need a blend of technological proficiency and artistic skills. The government’s focus on developing future skills underscores the importance of AVGC in the evolving job market.

Technological Advancements

The year 2023 marked a significant turning point for the AVGC sector. AI tools were developed to simplify and automate animation and VFX processes, showcasing the industry’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements. The integration of breakthrough chip technologies driven by AI algorithms promises to further revolutionize the sector in 2024.

Cultural Milestones

In 2023, India achieved a milestone with the launch of its first international Festival, AniMela, in partnership with the prestigious Annecy Festival in France and with the support of the Government of India. This event not only exposed emerging talents in animation, gaming, and technology but also provided a platform for networking and collaboration.
