NTTF – JNTC (J N Tata Technical Education Centre, Gopalpur) is a collaborative venture of Tata Steel and NTTF, transforming technical training in Odisha since 2005. The robust training methodologies practiced by NTTF Gopalpur has a built-in capability of imparting the required skills to make their students industry-ready. A majority of alumni of the centre have embarked on the journey of excellence and attained aspirational career growth.

In this Skill Talk, Team NSN presents the journey of some such talented and highly successful alumni. Read on to relive their journey as NTTF alumni.

Ms. Sagarika Mahankuda, Diploma in Electronics, 2005 – 2008 batch

Ms Sagarika Mahankuda

Ms. Sagarika Mahankuda was a part of the very first batch of NTTF-JNTC Gopalpur. Before knowing about NTTF, she was aspiring to become an Engineer. However, she chose NTTF to complete her Diploma in Electronics and she can’t be more thirled about the skills that learned at NTTF.

Talking about her journey as an NTTF alumna, she says, “I completed my Diploma in Electronics from NTTF, Gopalpur in 2008. Our batch was the first batch of the centre. After the completion of my course, I got placed in L&T Emsys now known as L&T TechnoServices. Currently, I am working in Capgemini as a Project Manager. I have more than 10 years of experience in the IT industry. I am involved in software design, development and maintenance. I have also worked in the Auto and Insurance domains.

The three-year training in NTTF was very instrumental in building a strong foundation for my career. The industry-aligned practical based training prepared me for all the workplace challenges. Apart from that, we also had very talented and experienced faculty who helped us during our training.

In addition to the technical skills, we also learned many life skills like time management, communication among others. Along with learning these skills, I enjoyed a lot during those three years in NTTF. I feel proud to an NTTF, Gopalpur alumna.”

I joined Asia Motor Works Ltd after the completion of my course. I have 12 years of industry experience. And currently, I am working as a Manager and leading the QA department at Cooper Standard Automotive Inc. NTTF was not like a college for me, it was like a school. It demanded us to be disciplined. We needed to follow all the rules and regulations strictly. Being disciplined has helped me a lot during my career and impacted my life in a positive way.

The training in NTTF is mostly practice-based which helped us build the much-needed hands-on experience for the industries. Creating innovative products every year was also a part of our curriculum. One of my projects got an Excellent Project Award at the National level. The industry-relevant training helped me to be productive since the first day on my job. Other than our domain-related subjects, they also taught us various other subjects like Fundamental of Electronics, so that it can develop us in a much better way.

All our labs were well equipped and the faculty were well trained and cooperative. When I started my professional journey, I came across many colleagues and higher authorities who were NTTF alumni. Those three years in NTTF were the best days of my life. During that period I learned a lot including technical skills and many life skills.

NTTF at J N Tata Technical Education Centre, Gopalpur was established in the year 2005. The centre has well-equipped laboratories, workshops, computer labs with internet access, large and spacious classrooms, and professionally qualified teachers.”
