India’s higher education system is at the cusp of a major transformation as we embark on innovative programs to integrate skills with academic learning. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has redefined what education should look like in the 21st century; which is, holistic, multidisciplinary, and most importantly, aligned with the needs of the future workforce. The policy envisions an ecosystem where theoretical knowledge is seamlessly integrated with building competencies, enhancing employability, and lifelong learning.

For Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), this shift requires more than just curriculum changes; it demands exceptional practical tools and frameworks to implement NEP in a way that benefits both students and faculty. This is where AISECT Learn takes the lead with its flagship initiative, the NCSDE NEP-LEAP (Learning and Employability Acceleration Partnership).

What is NEP-LEAP?

NEP-LEAP is designed as a comprehensive implementation tool that enables institutions to align with NEP 2020 while preparing students for future careers. By integrating credit-based NEP- and NSQF-aligned courses, real-world projects, structured internships, and placement support.

NEP-LEAP also offers the Young Professionals Employability Program (YPEP), Training of Trainers (ToT) to improve teaching delivery, and Management Development Programs (MDP) to build leadership and managerial skills. Together, these initiatives enhance employability skills and support effective NEP 2020 implementation.

Through NEP-LEAP, students gain technical knowledge, employability skills, and placement readiness. By blending academic rigor with hands-on exposure, it helps institutions deliver a future-ready education model.

Towards a future-ready higher education ecosystem

As India moves towards making higher education more skill-oriented, AISECT Learn with NEP-LEAP offers institutions a practical pathway to implement NEP 2020.

With AISECT Learn leading this transformation, higher education in India can truly become future-ready; where learning goes hand in hand with employability, and policy visions translate into real outcomes. This journey is not just about strengthening institutions; it is about realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, where education plays a central role in building a skilled, innovative, and self-reliant nation. Without close alignment between higher education and industry needs, this dream will be difficult to achieve.

NEP-LEAP bridges this gap by ensuring that learning translates into employability, growth, and nation-building, making education the cornerstone of India’s growth story.

  • We often talk about innovation, future skills, and employability. But the real foundation for all of this is built much earlier, in our schools.Students from PM SHRI Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS), Bhopal, have developed a smart multi-sensor safety system that can detect gas leaks, fire, temperature, and humidity, along with real-time alerts. What makes this noteworthy is not just the outcome, but the learning process behind it.This is what happens when students move beyond textbooks and engage in hands-on, application-based learning. They don’t just understand concepts; they apply them to solve real-world problems. It’s a reminder that when students are given the right opportunities, guidance, and environment, their potential can translate into meaningful, practical solutions. As conversations around skill education and future readiness continue to grow, there is a clear need to create more such learning experiences in schools, where curiosity, experimentation, and problem-solving are at the core.Because that is where real learning begins.#skilldevelopment #education #studentinnovation #learningbydoing #educationtransformation #STEMEducation #younginnovators
