Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) and KVTSDC jointly conduct a job fair at Maddur, Karnataka

A sector specific Rozgar Mela (Job Fair) was held on 10th July 2018 by MESD, Maddur, under aegis of Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation (KVTSDC) and Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) , a non- profit body working under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) ,Government of India. It aimed to connect people certified in Agriculture and Allied sectors under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and other innovative schemes of government of India . 110 certified candidates participated in the Mela.

The organizations which attended included Kisan Kraft, Organic Mandya and Alpha Omega. The dignitaries who attended included Shri. Kadaluru Ramakrishna (President, Mandya Milk Union), Shri Hanume Gowda –Dy. Director Animal Husbandry, Mandya District, Mr. Samarendra Sahoo ( GM, Kisan Kraft). Mr Sunil Naik (Associate Head) and Dr.( Lt. Col Retd) Samarendra Narayanan (Director) from the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI), as well as other MESD Staff coordinated the event. 110 candidates participated in the job fair and 25 were shortlisted by these companies for jobs in their organizations. The candidates were certified in three job roles viz. Dairy Farmer, Organic Grower and Quality Seed Grower.

As reiterated by the CEO, Dr Satender Singh Arya, ASCI has taking up the task of transforming Indian Agriculture through developing the skills of country’s manpower in emerging areas of agriculture. ASCI has covered skilling over 160 job roles ranging from Dairy farmer/entrepreneur, Organic farmer, Quality seed grower, for this job fair to other roles such as Farm Mechanization and Precision Farming, Agri-Information Management, Dairy Farm Management, Poultry Farm Management, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Post-Harvest Supply Chain Management, to Forestry and Agro Forestry, Watershed Management, Amenity Horticulture & Landscaping, Production Horticulture, Seeds Industry, Soil Health Management, Commodity Management, Agri Entrepreneurship and Rural Enterprises, to name a few.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr (Lt. Col.Retd.) Samarendra Narayanan mentioned the stellar contribution made in the field of Agriculture and Allied areas by ASCI and its contribution in nation building through Skill Development in Agriculture. ASCI facilitates capacity building by bridging gaps and upgrading skills of farmers, wage workers, self-employed & extension workers engaged in organized/ unorganized segments of Agriculture and Allied Sectors through a network of certified training partners. The significant contribution made by MESD, a well known training partner in this regard was also acknowledged.
