Apple Strengthens India Manufacturing Talent with Dedicated Education Hub

Apple Education Hub in India marks a significant step in strengthening India’s manufacturing talent ecosystem, as Apple launches a dedicated learning hub to upskill supplier employees through digital, technical, and future-ready training programs. Based in Bengaluru, the hub marks Apple’s first such initiative in the country and will begin offering structured learning programs from March 2026.

The move reinforces Apple’s long-term strategy to support India’s growing role in global manufacturing by investing directly in workforce capability, digital readiness, and career progression for supplier employees.

Apple Education Hub in India: Industry–academia collaboration at the core

The learning hub has been established in partnership with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), combining Apple’s global supply chain expertise with MAHE’s strength in applied and digital education.

This initiative is designed as a trainer-enabled learning model, ensuring scale and sustainability. Under this approach:

  • MAHE faculty train supplier instructors
  • Certified instructors conduct sessions at supplier facilities
  • Courses reach large employee groups efficiently across locations

The initial focus areas include digital literacy and Swift coding for beginners, creating a strong base for advanced manufacturing and technology-enabled roles.

Expansion of skill programs across supplier facilities

In addition to the Bengaluru hub, Apple is expanding its supplier employee development programs across more than 25 supplier sites in India. The rollout will begin with Tata Electronics, with plans to scale rapidly across other facilities.

The new curriculum is aligned with the needs of modern manufacturing environments and covers:

  • Digital literacy and core technology skills
  • Swift coding and application development
  • Robotics and automation technologies
  • Smart manufacturing and factory digitisation

These initiatives are supported through Apple’s $50 million global Supplier Employee Development Fund, which focuses on education, professional training, and employee wellbeing across Apple’s worldwide supply chain.

Beyond immediate technical upskilling, the education hub also supports continuous learning and internal mobility within supplier organisations. By enabling employees to acquire transferable digital and automation skills, the initiative helps build long-term career resilience, improves shop-floor productivity, and supports suppliers as they transition toward higher-value manufacturing and globally competitive production standards.

Building depth in India’s manufacturing talent pool

Apple and its partners currently offer over 75 courses for supplier employees in India. These span multiple dimensions of workforce development, including:

  • Technical and vocational training
  • Professional and management skills
  • Health, safety, and wellbeing education
  • Rights awareness and workplace dignity

Following the success of its robotics training program launched in December 2024, Apple plans to expand robotics labs to additional supplier sites in 2026. These labs focus on training factory educators through hands-on learning, enabling them to customise and deliver practical modules tailored to their facility requirements.

Inclusive skilling for persons with disabilities (PwDs)

Apple is also strengthening its focus on inclusive workforce development by expanding its Vocational Education for Persons with Disabilities program in India. Recently launched with Salcomp, the initiative:

  • Has benefited more than 18,000 supplier employees globally
  • Supports employment and professional development for persons with disabilities
  • Enhances safety, accessibility, and inclusive practices at supplier facilities

This program builds on Apple’s long-standing partnership with Enable India, which works to improve employment outcomes and workplace inclusion for persons with disabilities.

From training programs to long-term capability building

With the launch of the this hub and the expansion of supplier-focused learning programs, Apple is moving beyond short-term training interventions toward long-term capability building within India’s manufacturing ecosystem. By embedding digital skills, automation technologies, and inclusive education across its supply chain, Apple is supporting higher-value manufacturing roles, sustainable career pathways, and a more resilient workforce. This approach does not only strengthens Apple’s supplier network but also contributes meaningfully to India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for advanced manufacturing and skilled talent.
