Skill development updates from the government
- The Arunachal Pradesh Skill Development Department has signed a tripartite MoU with Holiday Inn and Visan Foundation to launch Project TARANG, training youth in F&B skills for careers in hospitality.
- The Global Centre of Excellence on Millets has been allocated ₹250 crore to boost millet research, farmer support, and awareness, including a millet museum and hostel facilities.
- NITI Aayog released a report on boosting medium enterprises, highlighting their untapped potential despite making up just 0.3% of MSMEs yet contributing 40% of MSME exports.
- The Central Apprenticeship Council has recommended a 36% stipend hike under NAPS and NATS, raising it to ₹6,800–₹12,300 to make apprenticeships more attractive and reduce dropouts.
- The government of Nagaland launched the Nagaland Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Mission to skill and empower 5,000 youth, bridging gaps between education, training, and employment across the state.

- The Andhra Pradesh government has partnered with Schneider Electric India Foundation to set up 20 advanced skill labs in ITIs and polytechnics, aiming to train 9,000+ students in electronics, green energy, and construction.
- GreenLiving has partnered with FFSC to boost eco-friendly innovation and skill development in India’s furniture sector, aiming to build a globally competitive workforce.
- ASDC and CBSE have announced the 4th National Automobile Olympiad 2025 for Classes 6–12, themed ‘The Future of Mobility,’ to spark student interest in EVs, AI, robotics, and sustainable transport.
- Greater Chennai Corporation has launched a ₹7.5 crore initiative to offer free vocational training to women, empowering them with skills for self-reliant entrepreneurship.
- Over 300 transpersons have completed vocational and IT courses through a program by Sahodaran NGO and CGI, empowering the community and breaking social stigma.
- Maruti Suzuki has launched a High Voltage EV training program in 130 ITIs across India to skill 4,100+ students annually in electric and hybrid vehicle technologies.
- The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Telangana’s WE HUB Foundation signed an MoU to promote financial literacy, support women-led MSMEs in fundraising via NSE Emerge, and implement BFSI sector skill programs to empower women across Telangana.

- Delhi schools will offer vocational courses in 257 more government schools, letting Class 9 and 11 students take NSQF-aligned skill subjects like IT and Healthcare.
- Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) is launching flexible, industry-linked skill courses and evening batches for working professionals, while revamping engineering admissions for 2025–26 to boost hands-on, real-world learning.
- Queens School of Design, Mysuru, is launching a 1-Year Gen AI Integrated Design Programme to bring cutting-edge tech and design education to students and professionals in Tier-2 India.
- Maharashtra’s FYJC admission portal now features a ‘Career Path’ tab, offering insights into 150+ career options to help Class 11 students make informed stream choices.
- Govt. Vocational Training Institute, Guindy, is offering free Industry 4.0-aligned training with stipends, uniforms, and more; applications open online till June 13 for youth and women.
