News from the states

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra University offering skill development courses: Andhra University has invited applications for three-month skill development courses on Fire and Safety Engineering, Foreign languages and Fitness trainer.The courses are offered by APSSDC and will provide coaching to unemployed youth including ex-servicemen and dependents of defence personnel.

Nagaland

  1. Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung organised a graduation programme for students successfully completing the vocational course on mushroom cultivation.
  2. Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources conducted training on Value Added Fish Products to women folk at CRBC,Tseminyu.
  3. Pinnacle Skills to execute HSBC’s skill training program – Pinnacle Skills is among the 28 organizations in the country selected to execute HSBC’s programme titled ‘HSBC Skills for Life’. It will train 580 youths of Nagaland in sectors like hospitality, IT-ITeS and Telecom under the programme.
  4. Youth who completed DDU-GKY program equipping them with employability skills awarded certificates in Dimapur.

Telangana

Exam for vocational courses held by SCCL: Singareni Collieries Company Limited General Manager inspected the vocational training certificate courses examination at the Women’s College Kothagudem and interacted with the candidates who attended the examination.

Uttar Pradesh

Supertech to impart skill development training

Supertech collaborated with Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) to impart skill development training to 500 candidates each year in real estate jobs to unemployed youths free of cost.

TSSC and Ericsson Centre of Excellence to impart skill training in Haryana

As part of their CSR efforts, Ericsson India Private Limited in collaboration with Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) inaugurated a centre of excellence at Bhagat Phool Singh Women University in Haryana to impart skill training to college girls.

SHREYAS apprenticeships and internships may disrupt job scene in India

A massive internship programme named SHREYAS(Scheme for Higher Education Youth for Apprenticeship and Skills) will give as many as 5 lakh students from India’s (non-technical) colleges and universities a chance to join a minimum 6-month skilling programme at various industries and service sector entities.

450 tribal youth to get trained for suitable jobs by Tata Power through ITI Jawhar

Tata Power Company, along with Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) has given a new lease of life to 450 tribal youth through Industrial Training Institute Jawhar in association with ‘STRIVE’ – a Skill Development Scheme by the Government.

Boeing to build 21st century aerospace ecosystem in India

“Boeing, will continue to invest millions of dollars in supplier development, training, tooling and quality systems and skill development at its Indian suppliers.” Boeing has offered to build a 21st century aerospace ecosystem in India for co-developing F/A-18 Super Hornet upgrades .The company says that the ‘Make in India’ programme for the Super Hornet has been envisioned for aircraft made in India for India.

According to Teamlease the aviation sector will have a shortage of skills

The aviation sector will see a deficit of 500 pilots in 2019 against the 1,300 the airlines have on the roster now. There is a shortage of cabin crew as well. To handle duties on the ground, there are 9,200 staff, compared with the requirement of 15,800. All three job roles (pilots, cabin and ground crew) are among the projected high-demand jobs in the Indian aviation industry.

Executive Sports Management course launched by FIFA in India

FIFA/CIES University Network that includes FIFA, world’s governing football body and CIES (The International Centre for Sports Studies), Switzerland, have launched an Executive Programme in Sports Management in India to train professionals to meet the demands of the job market in the sports industry.

CII taking the current reform agenda forward

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), has drafted the ‘CII Suggested Election Manifesto’ which it has shared with prominent national and regional political parties. It aligns with CII’s India@75 vision of development for the nation.

But what helps you navigate it?That was the conversation we explored last week at NSTI Women, Hyderabad, during our session on the human side of employability with the young CTS students.The students participated with enthusiasm and curiosity. A big thank you to Deputy Director Ms. Arulselvi for the warm welcome and for taking us through the institute.Walking through the practical classrooms and interacting with students and faculty gave us an immersive glimpse into the learning happening across areas such as Cosmetology, Architectural Draughtsman, Fashion Design Technology and AI & IoT.As we moved from one classroom to another, it was interesting to see the students and faculty at work and hear about their project goals and experiences.
