Pune rubber courses from RSDC and appreciation from MSDE

RSDC and Baburaoji Gholap College at Pune, a prominent institute in the city, have gone for an agreement for Skill oriented Short term Training Courses in Rubber Technology. Baburaoji Gholap College, Pune, is a prestigious venture of Pune District Education Association (PDEA).

Under the MoU, the college will introduce rubber courses aligned to National Occupational Standards (NOS) developed by RSDC which would enhance the employability of students with industry relevant skills. The college will execute programmes as per the content designed and developed by RSDC and help finalise all the logistics to carry out the trainings.

Besides providing curriculum and content for the courses, RSDC will facilitate training of trainers and also provide support in connecting with the industry for on the Job training and placements. RSDC will also ensure quality of training delivery by adopting an accreditation process for training service providers, assessments and certification of trainees.

Pune is one of the major Auto and rubber industry hubs in the country. The agreement with the College will go a long way in meeting the demand for the skilled manpower and increasing competitiveness of the sector.

RSDC gets thumbs up from the Government

In a review meeting of Sector Skills Councils, Union Minister for Skill development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) Mr Dharmendra Pradhan appreciated the role being played by RSDC in up skilling the rubber sector in the country. Mr Pradhan expressed keen interest in understanding the skilling needs of Rubber and Tyre sector and spent considerable time with the RSDC delegation.

“Mr Pradhan especially appreciated the programmes being run by RSDC under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme. He endorsed the idea that RPL has led to the morale boosting of a large skilled populace who have so far been deprived of any recognition”, said Mr Vinod Simon, Chairman RSDC, who led the team.

The fact that RSDC has already conducted skill gap studies for almost all the states and has developed considerable number of NOS for both rubber manufacturing and plantation sectors, drew applause from those who participated in the meeting including Dr K P Krishnan, Secretary MSDE.

In a heartening gesture, Hon’ble Minister signed off the meeting with an encouraging tweet which said, ” Had a fruitful meeting with Mr. Vinod Simon, Chairman RSDC. Discussed about laying a detailed road map to meet the skilled manpower needs of rubber & allied industries.

“Recognising RSDC’s considerable work under the PMKVY RPL scheme, Hon’ble Minister has given an ambitious target to assess, up skill & certify 10 lakh trainees under the scheme. As an ally of the Government we are committed to work with all the sincerity for achieving the target. We will be counting on the support and cooperation by the Rubber Board and the industry in achieving the same”, said Ms Meghna Mishra.
