The leading two-wheeler manufacturer of the country, Indian Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt. Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh Government in Lucknow on imparting skill training and empowering youth in the state. The MoU was signed on 7th May 2018 with an objective to create skilling opportunities for rural youth in Uttar Pradesh, in order to help them get jobs in the manufacturing sector.
The collaboration is a part of Yamaha’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy and its support to the Skill India initiatives. The signed MoU was exchanged in the presence of IYM senior management including Mr. Yukihiko Tada, Director, Mr. Om Prakash, Vice President & Mr. Anand Mishra, Deputy General Manager and Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh Mr. Ram Naik, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Yogi Aditya Nath, Mr. Chetan Chauhan, Minister, Vocational Education and Skill Development, Mr. Suresh Pasi, Minister, Vocational Education and Skill Development.
Senior officials from Uttar Pradesh Government including Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Vocational Education and Skill Development & Mr. Pranjal Yadav, Mission Director, Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission were also present during the MoU signing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yukihiko Tada, Director, IYM said, “Our aim is to create future Shop Floor leaders in the country equipped with Japanese style of manufacturing and working methods. The initiative will help the underprivileged youth of Uttar Pradesh and equip them with skills relevant to the industry, thereby, helping them become more employable. Yamaha is committed to undertake similar initiatives in the future as well and continue to support Make In India initiative and National Skill Development Mission of Government of India.”
As per the MoU, Department of Vocational Education and Skill Development, Uttar Pradesh Government will arrange the students who have passed ITI from relevant trades and reputed institutes whereas Yamaha will arrange practical training at its factories for the students. Through this two years Fixed Term practical shop floor training program, Yamaha intends to build up a cadre of young, qualified & skillful talent who can become self- sufficient and contribute in the growth of manufacturing sector in the nation.
Mr. Bhuvnesh Kumar, Principal Secretary, Department of Vocational Education and Skill Development, Uttar Pradesh Government said, “The efforts taken by Yamaha towards Skill Development is commendable. Such initiatives shall enhance employment opportunities for our youth, boost the Skill India Mission and help us achieve the Hon’ble PM’s vision of transforming India into the skill capital of the world.”
Yamaha had last year in December as well signed an MoU with the Bihar Government for skill development and training of youths in Bihar and provide them an opportunity to get On-the-Job Training at its factories in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and Faridabad, Haryana. Apart from this, Yamaha has also started a technical training institute – Yamaha NTTF Training Centre (YNTC) at its Chennai Factory in 2017 to impart training to youth from the rural areas of Tamil Nadu on the Japanese manufacturing methods. The company also runs Yamaha Training Schools (YTS) across India with an aim to provide technical training to the youths of the economically weaker section of the society.
