Skill development news from the government

  • MSDE has unveiled key government initiatives as part of the Skill India Mission, focusing on widespread skill development and entrepreneurship. Read more…
  • The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has provided details on global skill mapping for a future that is resilient, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable.
  • The Central Government, as well as State and Union Territory Governments, have undertaken various initiatives in 2023 to implement the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020).

Skill development news from the industry

  • NSDC International and The Adecco Group have formed a collaboration to promote international mobility for skilled Indian candidates, unlocking opportunities for mutual benefit and leveraging their organizational strengths.
  • Wheebox released the ‘India Skills Report 2024,‘ under the theme “Impact of AI on the Future of Work, Skilling & Mobility.” The report highlights India’s leadership in AI, with insights from 152 corporations and 3.88 lakh participants.
  • Maruti Suzuki India Limited signed an MoA with the Government of Haryana to set up Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing at Kansala.

Skill development news from the ITIs

  • The Uttar Pradesh government to prioritize youth skill development through ITIs and polytechnic institutes, enhancing facilities and refining the training process.
  • Students from ITI Bandipora took the lead in Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, empowering communities by raising awareness about government schemes.
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched its 64th Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at Government ITI in Varanasi, aiming to enhance the skills of students and improve employability.
  • Tata Power has partnered with the Government of Odisha to enhance skill development in the power sector and provide industry-relevant training to students in ITIs across the state.

Skill development news from the academia

  • The University of Ladakh and HSSC signed an MoA to boost innovation in the Green Hydrogen Sector, promising mutual growth through research and training.
  • Over 100 government skill training institutes in the Northeast will house Entrepreneurship Development Centres (EDCs), offering mentoring, handholding support, and facilitating financial linkages to empower the youth.
  • PARAKH, NCERT’s new exam body, has plans to introduce AI-based learning in schools by 2028 and aims to become a regional centre offering consultancy and technical expertise.

Skill development news from the States/UTs

  • Kerala: Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (ANERT) in Kerala has initiated a faculty development program for polytechnic lecturers to promote e-mobility in the region.
  • Maharashtra: The Maharashtra State Skill Development Society, the Commissionerate of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and NSDC has signed an MoU to support Maharashtra International employment facility centre.
  • Sikkim: The World Bank has approved a transformative initiative designed to enhance skills and create employment opportunities for 300,500 women and youth in the northeastern state of Sikkim, India.
  • West Bengal: The Technical Education Training and Skill Development Department of the Government of West Bengal organized its inaugural sectoral workshop on Logistics and Supply Chain to advance skills and foster partnerships.
