- On September 25, 2022, ‘Make in India’, the Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote investment, encourage innovation, advance skill development, and create best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure, have completed eight years of path-breaking changes.
- The SCALE (Skill Certification Assessment for Leather Employees) app, which provides a one-stop solution for the skilling, learning, assessment, and employment needs of the leather sector, was launched by Minister of Education and Skill Development Shri Dharmendra Pradhan.

- Hero Electric, DSEU Partners For Skill Development Program, Hero Electric will provide internships and placements to students following completion of this technical course.
- Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) has established a capacity-building centre at NIT Patna in partnership with Huawei Technologies.
- Skill-Lync has stated that they have opened exclusive access to premium Electric Vehicle Design courses for engineers.
- Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) collaborated with Sir Mathuradas Vissanji Education Trust to improve its automotive training program and provide rural youth with skills for livelihoods.
- To meet the demand for a skilled workforce in the leather industry in India, DOT School of Design and the Leather Sector Skill Council (LSSC) took the initiative to establish a cooperative industrial association.
- To launch the BCCM Mentoring Club, the British Columbia College of Management recently hosted a seminar on “Upskilling and Reskilling for Tourism and Hospitality in India” at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi.
- The Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC), a government of India program under the National Skill Development Council (NSDC), has developed training modules that would upskill electric bus drivers in Calcutta.
- In Jharkhand, it will now be mandatory to recruit 75% locals for positions in the private sector that pay up to Rs 40,000. Starting in October, all businesses and establishments with more than 10 employees are required to adhere to the rule.
- With the aim of addressing the growing nursing shortages in Germany and the rest of the developed world, Certif-ID International GmbH and the Apollo Hospitals Group have signed an agreement to source, train, and upskill nurses in India.

- Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan, Minister of Higher Education and Skill Development, announced that the state’s 30 Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) will receive upgrades this year.
- At the first-ever Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) convocation ceremony in Bhopal, 71,838 students received National Business Certificates.
- The U.P. government has decided to upgrade six industrial institutes into Lighthouse ITIs, which will serve as an example for other institutions to follow and replicate.

- To create a plan for the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) to work collaboratively as a single regulatory entity, a committee has been formed.
- The Government of Karnataka’s Department of Higher Education is seeking to strengthen strategic partnerships with universities in the United Kingdom in order to improve higher education.
- Under the HPKVN scheme, IIT Mandi has started offering free skill development courses. Candidates can submit an application for the courses at IIT Mandi’s official website, iitmandi.ac.in.
- RICS SBE partners with Northumbria University to provide a dual degree program in real estate for the first time in India under the new UGC guidelines.
- Five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) with American universities as part of the New Education Policy’s (NEP) push to create “internationalization” programs.
- IIT Mandi introduces five new skill-development courses as part of the Kaushal Vikas Nigam program. The free courses will focus on particular engineering disciplines and assist in developing skills needed for PMKVY jobs.
- Manipal Global Skills Academy has launched a FinTech Certification Program, enabling India’s talent pipeline to support the USD 1.3 trillion global market opportunity.
- To train Indians in digital skills through real-world initiatives, Tech-Mark Training India has partnered with Weblium in the US, Skill Universe in the UK, Godaddy, and RedHat.
Skill development news from the States/UTs
- Karnataka: Between September 21 and September 23 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC), the city held a skill and education fair that showcased the state-of-the-art solutions for education and skill sectors.
- Kashmir: A seven-day skill development workshop was conducted for women empowerment in Kashmir, 47 women and girls have benefited by learning wet felting techniques using local wool.
- Kerala: According to Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal, skill parks would be expanded to more locations to improve job opportunities for unemployed graduates in rural areas.
- Maharashtra: To provide employment and vocational training to 15,000 Class 12 students in the state, the Maharashtra government signed an MOU with TISS.
- Nagaland: To improve student skill sets with a focus on rural areas, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) launched the Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) at the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur.
- Tamil Nadu: The British Council and the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women (TNCDW) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to standardise and streamline the English and soft skills training curriculum that the former is offering through various organizations.
