Skills framework reorganisation and targeted PMKVY proposed: To revamp its skills framework, the government plans a more targeted PMKVY and setting up of a dedicated national institute of skill development to centralise skill training and funding. The proposals form part of the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry’s Vision 2025 to help substantially enhance the scale of skilling in the country.

India to start skilling its youth from an early age: To provide skill training to youth between 0 and 24 years of age, a scheme ‘YuWaah’ — Generation Unlimited’ was launched. The initiative is supported by UNICEF and aims to engage over 300 million youngsters in education, skill training or employment over the next decade.

Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh to set up skill development university: The Government of Andhra Pradesh will be introducing its first skill development university in the state to improve the learning among students pursuing industrial training, polytechnic, engineering and other technical courses. Each constituency will have one college.
Assam
Lineman training provided under RPL-PMKVY programme in Hailakandi: Lineman training was provided to 45 beneficiaries under RPL-PMKVY programme in Hailakandi. The 480 hours of training was held at the Valeur Skill Training Centre at Ramnath HS School campus.
Maharashtra
Harsul central jail set up training centre to provide skill training to its inmates: In Maharashtra, Harsul central jail has established a training centre in its premises to impart skill-based training to inmates to help them start a new life after being released. The administration has introduced 10 courses, including stitching, computer studies, wiring, plumbing, masonry and beautician training.
Telangana
To provide the youth with necessary skills, vocational training centre opened in Moulali division: To bridge the skill gap and to provide the youth with necessary skills, a vocational training centre was inaugurated by Kairali Education Society at Venkateshwara Nagar Colony in Moulali division.
Tamil Nadu
Freudenberg Training Centre celebrates its 10th anniversary: Freudenberg Training Centre, established in Nagapattinam in the South Indian province of Tamil Nadu, celebrated it’s 10th anniversary. It was officially opened in 2009 with a vision to provide career and skills-oriented vocational training to young people. So far, over 700 young people have received professional training to start off their careers as welders, fitters, machinists, mechanic (motor vehicle) and electricians.
Maersk centre of excellence to be opened for in Tamil Nadu: Maersk, logistics major is going to set up AP Moller- Maersk centre of excellence in Tamil Nadu. Maersk has signed an MoU with Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) to operate the centre jointly. The foundation stone has been laid at Thenpattinam in Tamil Nadu. The centre will focus on skill development and training needs of Maersk cadets across job functions (deck, electrical and engine)
A ray of hope shines among Tripura clay artisans post PM’s plastic-free India call: More than 200 pottery artisans of Nandan Nagar in Agartala, Tripura are hopeful that the demands for their clay tea cups will increase in the coming days after PM’s plastic-free India call. With the increase of demand in artificial products and materials, the clay artisans were living in a very miserable state all this while.

The theme of the summit’s fifth edition was ‘Skill Development – A Game Changer’. Eminent speakers from across the industry addressed the delegates at the conference.
IBM collaborates with Odisha Government to introduce STEM for Girls: IBM has signed an MoU with the Department of School and Mass Education, Government of Odisha to introduce ‘IBM STEM for Girls’. The programme will launch in more than 100 higher secondary schools across districts to advance skills and careers of 20,000 girls and 10,000 boys in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields.

ITIs signed partnership with 719 companies in last 6 months: ITIs have signed partnerships with 719 private companies in the last six months since a revamp by MSDE. This is a huge success for the ITIs.

Annual skilling roundtable held by Generation India Foundation to measure outcomes across the skilling value-chain: Generation India Foundation hosted its first-ever annual skilling roundtable in New Delhi. The not-for-profit organisation was founded by McKinsey & Company. The goal of the roundtable was to bring together prominent leaders from the skilling ecosystem to discuss “How to improve impact measurement across skilling value-chain”.
