IndiaSkills 2021: Registrations open for India’s largest skill competition

National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the executive arm of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has announced the opening of online registrations for IndiaSkills Competition 2021 to promote international standards of vocational training in India.

The biennial competition is organised to scout talent from the country, offering them a platform to showcase their skills at the national and the international platforms.

The candidates can register for the state competitions online at https://worldskillsindia.co.in/indiaskill2021/.

The registered candidates will get a chance to showcase their talent at state, regional and national level competitions in 47 skills ranging from painting to masonry, web technologies to fashion technology and more. 

Eligibility criteria to participate in IndiaSkills 2021

The eligibility criteria for the competition mandates that participants must be born on or after 1 January 1999 for all the skills apart from Mechatronics, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Water Technology and Information Network Cabling where competitors must be born on or after 1 January 1996. 

The registrations would close on 28th February 2021.  Once the registration process is closed, skill competitions will be held at district, state and regional level. Regional legs of the competitions will be organized across five zones, culminating at the national competition in Delhi. The competitions will be organized by states and will be supported by National Skill Development Corporation, in partnership with Sector Skill Councils, Industry Partners, Corporates and Academic Organizations. 

IndiaSkills 2021Note for the candidates

  • Candidates registered previously for IndiaSkills 2020 must not register again for IndiaSkills 2021 as they are already eligible to participate. 
  • Any candidate registered earlier and eliminated before or at State Level Competition for IndiaSkills 2020 is not eligible for registration again for IndiaSkills 2021.
  • The eligibility criteria for the competition mandates that participants must be born on or after 1 January 1999 for all the skills apart from Mechatronics, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Water Technology and Information Network Cabling where competitors must be born on or after 1 January 1996.
  • The registrations are currently underway in a few states – Andaman and Nicobar, Assam, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tripura, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

The last IndiaSkills Competition held in 2018, witnessed participation of 22 states and more than 100 corporates. Over 5 lakh candidates registered for the competition. IndiaSkills Competition 2018 helped scout 48 skill champions who along with their experts represented India at the WorldSkills International 2019, held in Kazan, Russia.  India won one gold, one silver, two bronze and 15 Medallions of Excellence at the biggest competition for skills and ranked 13th among 63 countries that participated. Similarly, in 2017, India ranked 19 among 56 countries participating at the WorldSkills Competition organized in Abu Dhabi.

IndiaSkills Competitions are designed to demonstrate the highest standards of skills in India and make vocational training aspirational for the youth. Winners of IndiaSkills 2021 will get a chance to represent the country at the WorldSkills International Competition to be held in Shanghai, China in 2022.
