Department for International Development (DFID), Govt. of UK in collaboration with the Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (AASSC), organized a 5 day Training of Trainers (ToT) programme in the job roles Airline Customer Service Executive and Airline Cabin Crew. Airline Customer Service Executive was organized in Bengaluru at HAL Technical Training Institute from 17th to 21st February and Airline Cabin Crew was organized in Delhi at GMR Aviation Academy from 20th to 25th February. The objective of this training programme was to further enhance the domain and platform skills of the trainers to the global standards.
The session was delivered jointly by the experts from Dudley College of Technology, UK and master trainers of AASSC. Established in 1862, Dudley College of Technology is currently offering over 4,000 vocational courses in various sectors. Ms. Rajinder Haire from Dudley College of Technology was the lead trainer supported by Ms. Tracey Wooton.
Mr. Rachit Bhatnagar, CEO, AASSC delivered the opening remarks wherein he touched upon the active role of AASSC in creating the skill development institutional capacity in the country and the importance of this ToT being delivered by Dudley College of Technology.
Ms. Anu Gupta and Mr. Sanjay Valsangkar from DFID elucidated the commitment of DFID for strengthening the skilling ecosystem in the country. Ms. Anu Gupta said, “with government announcing 100 new airports under the Udan scheme, more such skill development initiatives should be undertaken to meet the future skilled workforce requirement of the industry”. During the sessions, DFID interacted with the participants to understand their feedback and expectations from the training sessions. Mr. Sanjay Valsangkar also stressed on the importance of these trainings and how the UK best practices can be adopted in enhancing the preparedness of India’s skilling ecosystem to train the future workforce.

The training was designed holistically incorporating sessions on both technical and domain knowledge alongside the platform skills. Participants were sensitized on global best practices and methodologies, techniques for adopting and implementing them during the course delivery. It was aimed at equipping professionals with the requisite skills to design and deliver short training sessions and become an effective trainer. The interactive sessions witnessed the participants sharing their view points on applicability of the UK best practices and helped in enriching their knowledge and skills on global best practices.
Joint certification by Dudley College of Technology and AASSC will be awarded to all the eligible participants post completion of the assessment process.
