Ex-servicemen, who retire from the Indian Armed Forces (IAF), have always been enthusiastic towards continuing their contribution to the development of the country. Their experience, talent and commitment can be suitably leveraged for a second career in skill development and training. A major step towards this goal is the launch of Veteran Skilling Program for veterans from Indian Armed Forces. Co-curated by Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) and BridgeNow Academy (BNA), the program aims to resettle the ex-serviceman who are retired after serving the Indian Armed Forces.

This project aims to support and better the employability prospects of ex-servicemen by providing them technical skills in domain relevant to their prior work experience. To deliver this program, NTTF has partnered with BridgeNow Academy (BNA) an industry oriented technical training provider, focused on bridging the skill gap in the Aerospace and Aviation domain.

BridgeNow Academy launched the IAF veterans re-settlement program at Bengaluru

BridgeNow Academy launched the Veteran Skilling Program at Bangalore on 3rd Feb 2020. The program will impart training to 15 veterans from the Indian Air Force (IAF). These veterans have 20 plus years of experience in the aerospace and aviation domain.

How the Veteran Skilling Program works

  • The veterans will undergo 2 weeks of soft skills training and process training at Lufthansa Technik.
  • The curriculum has been designed in close collaboration with the HR head of Lufthansa Technik.
  • The curriculum includes soft skills training, curated and delivered by BridgeNow Academy, to prepare them for their new role in today’s corporate environment.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, the IAF veterans will be offered placement with Lufthansa Technik.

Dr. Kishore Brahma, Head of Training, BNA while welcoming the participants to the corporate world said that BNA is proud to support NTTF in resettlement of Veterans through this training program. This is the second defense Veteran resettlement project undertaken by BNA during the financial year & will strive to achieve greater heights in the area of skill development. This is a prestigious project for BNA and are excited to offer such a unique training program for our IAF veterans.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shrinath Bhandary, GM – Corporate Training said “Intent meets the purpose. Delighted to be part of the Boeing sponsored veteran CSR technical program launch which is employment oriented, Aerospace industry focused & more importantly with employer’s involvement.”

Nitin Ughade, Manager – HR, Lufthansa Technik addressed the veterans & extended a warm welcome to all the participants. Speaking on the occasion, Nitin said, ““Skill” can be learned anytime but “Will” should come from inside. Plan career smartly, as there are endless opportunities in the corporate world for the right skills.”

Almost all the veterans getting trained in the BridgeNow academy not only have experience in aircraft maintenance but also in the Logistics Management and Office Administration. Their experience of working on-site for about two decades will help the young professionals with wider knowledge and deeper understanding in the aerospace and aviation sector.

The smooth transition to the corporate can be achieved by imparting the right skills and training to the veterans of our country. Therefore, this program will definitely add to their vast experience of working with the Indian Airforce and equip them better for the world of corporate.
