AI for beginners is becoming an essential starting point as artificial intelligence rapidly transforms industries, job roles, and the way work is carried out across sectors. As organisations increasingly adopt AI-driven tools and technologies, individuals are faced with growing uncertainty about how these changes will affect their careers and long-term relevance in the workforce.

While there is widespread advice to “learn AI,” many learners struggle with more fundamental questions, where to begin, what to learn, and how AI knowledge applies to specific roles. The confusion often extends to whether learning AI requires coding or data skills, or whether understanding the right applications and use cases is sufficient. In this context, the real challenge is not artificial intelligence replacing jobs, but individuals falling behind those who are able to use AI more effectively, efficiently, and strategically.

AI readiness, therefore, becomes a critical requirement. It is with this objective that the Government of India has introduced the SOAR AI programs, designed to help learners build foundational awareness, understand key AI concepts, and gain clarity on how artificial intelligence impacts work, education, and everyday life.

To gain a practical understanding of how these learning pathways are delivered, you may please watch the detailed SOAR AI platform demo video linked below.

SOAR AI programs: Building AI readiness

To address the growing need for AI readiness, the Government of India has launched the SOAR AI programs, a set of online e-learning initiatives designed to provide learners with a clear and structured introduction to artificial intelligence. These programs focus on building foundational understanding before learners move on to specialised or advanced technical learning.

The SOAR AI programs are intended for a wide and diverse audience, including school and college students, working professionals, parents, job seekers, and individuals who wish to understand how AI is impacting industries and everyday life. By offering an accessible entry point, the programs help reduce confusion and enable informed decision-making around AI learning.

Beginner-level AI learning pathways

The SOAR AI beginner courses are organised into three progressive learning pathways, allowing learners to start at a level suited to their needs and advance at their own pace.

1. AI for Awareness

This pathway introduces learners to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence (AI), including core concepts, real-world applications, and essential aspects of digital safety and cybersecurity. It is designed for individuals seeking a high-level overview of AI without technical depth.

2. AI to Aspire

This pathway focuses on exploring AI from a technological and industry perspective. Learners are introduced to sectoral use cases, emerging trends, and introductory programming concepts, making it suitable for those considering future careers or deeper engagement with AI technologies.

3. AI to Acquire

This pathway is intended for learners who wish to develop practical and technical skills. It includes topics such as Python fundamentals, AI tools and frameworks, model deployment, and prompt engineering, enabling learners to move closer to applied AI capabilities.

Also explore the AI for educators video under the SOAR AI series, which focuses specifically on how teachers, trainers, and education leaders can integrate artificial intelligence into teaching and learning practices.

AI for beginners learning experience and certification

Across all three pathways, the courses emphasise conceptual clarity supported by interactive learning elements such as quizzes, exercises, and assessments. Learners can track their progress and complete evaluations to earn certification upon successful completion.

The SOAR AI courses are delivered through established industry partners such as Microsoft, NASSCOM, and HCL, and are certified under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). This ensures credibility, quality assurance, and recognition for learners completing the programs.

Preparing for an AI-driven future

As artificial intelligence continues to influence the future of work and learning, developing a foundational understanding of AI has become essential. The SOAR AI beginner courses provide a structured and accessible starting point for individuals seeking clarity on AI concepts, applications, and skill pathways.

By offering progressive learning options that move from awareness to applied skills, the programs enable learners to build confidence and make informed choices about their AI learning journey. Certified under MSDE and supported by trusted industry partners, the SOAR AI initiatives play an important role in preparing learners to engage with artificial intelligence in a meaningful and responsible manner.
