Skilling and Apprenticeship

The construction industry contributes 9% of India’s GDP employing around 74 million people across  rural and urban areas making it the second largest employer. From 2023 to 2026, the Indian construction industry is expected to increase by an average of 6.2% per year, aided by a robust pipeline of infrastructure projects in numerous industries.

However, worker shortfalls and inadequate access to skills are posing financial and operational challenges for the Industry. Mismatched skill sets and a lack of work possibilities globally continue to be major obstacles. Additionally, individuals of all ages find themselves in need of retraining or upskilling due to the quick changes in the needs of the labour market.

Narendra Deshpande, CEO, CSDCI says “One of the core objectives of every organization in the construction industry should be ensuring  knowledge and skills across the hierarchy; not forgetting the construction workers performing in the ground.”

He further adds, “‘Rightly Qualified Construction Workforce’ via Skill Development or Apprenticeship or based on a  robust framework can contribute to lowering unemployment rates, reducing skill gaps resulting into enhanced productivity and competitiveness of enterprises.”

The workshop by CSDCI will contribute to building the right ecosystem for the construction industry while creating awareness about accepting and adopting apprenticeships as proven strategy for ‘Capacity Building’. Ensure to block your date and click here for registration.

  • We often talk about innovation, future skills, and employability. But the real foundation for all of this is built much earlier, in our schools.Students from PM SHRI Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS), Bhopal, have developed a smart multi-sensor safety system that can detect gas leaks, fire, temperature, and humidity, along with real-time alerts. What makes this noteworthy is not just the outcome, but the learning process behind it.This is what happens when students move beyond textbooks and engage in hands-on, application-based learning. They don’t just understand concepts; they apply them to solve real-world problems. It’s a reminder that when students are given the right opportunities, guidance, and environment, their potential can translate into meaningful, practical solutions. As conversations around skill education and future readiness continue to grow, there is a clear need to create more such learning experiences in schools, where curiosity, experimentation, and problem-solving are at the core.Because that is where real learning begins.#skilldevelopment #education #studentinnovation #learningbydoing #educationtransformation #STEMEducation #younginnovators
