Apprenticeship and vocational education have gathered quite some attention with the government’s emphasis on public and private sectors taking apprentices to fill at least 2.5% of their total workforce. The PSUs are also advised to lend space and infrastructure for skill training. B.Voc courses are getting more popular among students due to their practical value and employment potential. With over 1000 online courses on various skills AISECT MOOCs are bound to reach more learners.   • Andhra Pradesh: Government plans to provide skill based training to one lakh youth from the scheduled castes. 10 MOUs have been signed to provide employment opportunities.
  • Bihar: Government embarks on skill development of migrants in Karnataka and Kerala.
  • Delhi : Tata Power’s TPSDI has set up four skill development centers to train, test, certify, and accredit over 2500 power sector workforce through modular programs.
  • Gujarat: IIT-Gn offers vocational training program through NEEV, their community outreach initiative. 2. Government decides to help skilled workers in the unorganized sectors through training and certification from Directorate of Employment and Training (DET) 3.The state will get a national level skill development institution for disabled people and help them gain jobs and increase employability factor. 4. Government has started a course to teach vocational trades skills such as carpentry, fitting, wiring, plumbing, tin-smithy, machines and welding for participants the age-group of 18 to 28 years.
  • Haryana: Government will set up a skill development center in Gurgaon to train youth and other professionals for a sustained livelihood.
  • Jammu and Kashmir : Poonch will be the first beneficiary of the six skill development courses such as hand embroidery, motor driving cum vehicle mechanic, plumbing, carpentry, computer and farming.
  • Karnataka : In Mysuru, a workshop for continuous professional development of teachers was conducted to improve teaching skills and use of ICT.
  • Madhya Pradesh: AISECT partners with ALISON to offer online courses through ‘aisectmoocs.com’ to support Skill India – all the courses would be free of cost.
  • Maharastra: Telecom products company Sterlite has successfully trained 90 women as a part of their CSR initiative 2. Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) will collaborate with Aurangabad-based Indo-German Tool Room (IGTR) for skill development 3.Millionlights collaborates with Saylor Academy to deliver online education and skill development courses in India
  • Nagaland: Nagaland University conducts 5-day skill development program for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) 2. A workshop on NSQF orientation was held in Kohima. 3. An Entrepreneur and Skill Development (ESDP) programme was organized by CAN Youth to train youth and small entrepreneurs in the state.
  • Odisha: Odisha Higher Education Minister inaugurates Suryamitra Skill Development Program at Centurion University
  • Rajasthan: Around 200 candidates from low lying areas of Rajasthan were given beauty skills training by Centum Learning which has established approximately 964 skilling centers.
  • Tamil Nadu: The MSME Development Institute conducts a skill development training in Trichy for providing jobs to unemployed youth,
  • Telangana: The need for more investment in technology, skill development was emphasized in Railways at an event organized by the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR).

The industry sectors

  • Tata Motors and ASDC have signed an MoU to embark on various skill development programs for auto sector.
  • NASSCOM joins hands with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) to launch HPE Future Classroom learning centres in Mumbai and Pune to provide vocational, business and IT skills training to people living in remote areas of India.
  • A new partnership was signed to bring world-class healthcare education and health services to India, which aims to raise the level of skills and capability of healthcare staff, and also enable highly skilled healthcare professionals to take up global opportunities.
  • To cater to the increasing demand, Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and Bharat Broadband Nigam Limited (BBNL) have decided to work closely for skill development.
  •  KTI and JSWE have offered to train people in the Beauty and wellness sector and other such non-traditional sectors.

The central government

  • As the government completes two years in office the positive impact of Skill India shows that 1.04 crore people benefitted from Skill India program, up by 36.8% from previous year.
  • The government will bring a law to set up National Board for Skills Assessment and Certification (NBSAC) to ensure quality skill training.

  • The Furniture and Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) concluded the 8th batch convocation of its 3-month short-term skill development program at the FFSC Centre of Excellence, located at NSTI Vidyanagar, Hyderabad, on 23rd December 2025, with support from Greenpanel Foundation.The program recognised participants from diverse educational and professional backgrounds who successfully completed the training.Designed as an industry-aligned initiative, the program focused on building practical, job-ready skills across furniture manufacturing, installation, and interior fit-out roles, supported by industry interaction and placement engagement.
