National Education Policy 2020: The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the National Education Policy 2020. The new policy aims to pave way for transformational reforms in school and higher education systems in the country. This policy will replace the 34 year old National Policy on Education (NPE),1986. MSDE observes Swacchta Pakhwada 2020: MSDE observed Swacchta Pakhwada 2020 and announced COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines to re-open PMKVY Training Centers. MSDE has allowed the PMKVY Training Centers to initiate the training in batches. Read more…

Bamboo can be main pillar of medicinal, paper industries: Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Thursday that bamboo can be the main pillar of ecological, medicinal, paper and building sectors in India and it can become one of the important components of the country”s post-COVID-19 economy.

Andhra Pradesh

APSSDC to offer free online courses: APSSDC is going to offer free online courses in various courses for graduates in collaboration with ElearnOAK India, an online learning service.

Good response to centre’s skill-based education: NSQF, a Central government programme aimed at providing skill-based education and vocational training, is being well received by the students in Goa. The enrollment in the program has more than tripled in five years as the number increased from 2068 in the academic year 2014-15 to 6,985 in the year 2019-20.

Gujarat

Gujarat government to establish GSDC: The government of Gujarat is going to establish GSDC in partnership with NSDC. The state government will hold 25% share in GSDC, and NSDC will hold 24%. The remaining shares will be possessed by 10 private companies from the state. A sum of Rs. 100 crore will be required as seed fund for GSDC.

Jammu and Kashmir

Skill development project launched in Jammu: A project that aims to provide skill training has been launched in Jammu. Skill training will be provided in various disciplines to 250 people every year to enable them to find employment. The Jammu Smart City Skill Development Project is a public-private partnership initiative launched in association with the ICICI Academy For Skills.

Maharashtra

ITI admission through cell phone application: This year, admission to the ITIs in Maharashtra will be done through a cell phone application. The ITIs will develop the admission app so that students can apply to colleges and institutes from home. ITI admissions will begin after secondary school certificate results are announced.

Admission process for ITIs to begin from August: The admission process for industrial training institutes (ITIs) will begin on 1st August 2020 and applications will be available on the website https://admission.dvet.gov.in.

Skill development training to one lakh farm workers: The government of Maharashtra is going to impart skill development training in agriculture sector to one lakh farm labourers. The registration of farm labourers will be done at taluka levels. Krishi kendras will coordinate the activities in their respective talukas and district head offices.

Punjab

ITI inside factory for skill empowerment of students: ITIs in Punjab has signed a MoU with one of Ludhiana’s prominent companies, Rajnish Industries to train the students in its factory. The initiative will not only help in the skill development of the students, but will also help them with the much needed hands-on training in a real factory.

ITI instructors upgrade skills: With an aim to impart virtual practical lessons, ITI instructors are upgrading their skills with various methods. Practical and hands-on training are crucial parts of ITI education. As per official reports, 75-80% students are attending online classes, especially the crucial practical part. 

ITIs to become resource centres for skilled workforce: Punjab ITIs are going to be the resource centres for providing industry-relevant skilled workforce to various trades, from tractor manufacturing units to the hospitality industry.
