More skill development schemes should be there for women: As a report women neither in education nor in the labour force category is large which must change for India to reap demographic dividend. For this a gender approach in the skill development programme is needed to connect or transition the youth to jobs.

World Record Union felicitates ASCI: World Record Union felicitated ASCI as one of the top 20 record holder achievers for the year 2020 for the incredible record on the theme of “MAximum Number of Farmers assessed on a single day.” Editors of seven countries Record Books have participated and the Record was also selected to be placed in the Indonesian Record Museum.

LAPA launches ‘Winged’ in collaboration with MTV India: One of the leading beauty training institutes in India, Lakme Academy, powered by Aptech (LAPA) launched India’s first hair and makeup reality web series called ‘Winged’ in collaboration with MTV India. This is an exclusive platform to the hair and makeup aspirants across the country to showcase their talent and win the title as India’s first Hair and Makeup Superstar.

Month-long “Baking Technology” training to be held in Mysuru: A month-long skill development programme on “Backing Technology” will be conducted at CSIR-Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru, as part of Skill India initiative. The programme will start on 20th January and will be concluded on 14th February.

Merck partners with IMTECH to inaugurate high-tech skill development centre: Merck has announced the opening of new high-tech skill development centre in collaboration with CSIR-IMTECH. In the training centre students and researchers can learn the latest genome-editing and single-molecule biomolecule biomarker detection technologies.

Arunachal Pradesh

180 youths to undergo skill development training by SDE: SDE department selected 180 youths who are going to get skill development training in retail, IT-ITeS and electronics sectors. The selected youth will undergo training by the Assam Professional Academy (APA) under PMKVY.

Bihar

5 day training programme to enhance entrepreneurship skill concludes: A five day training programme to train youths under PMYUVA programme and help them inculcate entrepreneurship skill concluded. 39 trainers from 27 partner institutes participated in the training programme.

Gujarat

Biometric attendance rolled out in ITIs: The biometric attendance has completely rolled out in ITIs in Gujarat.The system was introduced in November with the aim to bring-in greater transparency in the functioning of ITIs. 

Kerala:

IndiaSkills Kerala 2020 district-level competitions to be held from 15th January: District-level competitions of India Skills Kerala 2020 will be held in different centres across the state from January 15 to 20.  A total of 16,293 youngsters will compete in 42 categories of vocational and non-vocational skills in the district-level rounds, followed by zonal competitions Zonal events will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochiand Kozhikode from January 27 to 31. 

Madhya Pradesh:

To make local youth job ready AIMP gets 40 lakh grant: AIMP is going to start skill training for youths to make them industry ready. This is a move to bridge the widening job-skill gap. AIMP has received a funding of Rs. 40 lakh from the Centre as part of STRIVE scheme for training youths.

Punjab:

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Skill Institute to be joint venture of IKGPTU and IIT Rupnagar: Sri Guru Gobind Singh Skill Institute is going to be a joint venture of IKGPTU and IIT Rupnagar. The Punjab Government has decided to run the courses in the college. The pass out students would be awarded a joint certification by IKGPTU and IIT, Rupnagar.

Rajasthan:

RSDLC bridges the gap between jobs and skills: RSDLC, as a nodal agency for skill development and livelihood activities in Rajasthan, is bridging the job-skill gap in the states through number of skilling initiatives. The aim is to achieve the target of skilling the youth to fit into emerging market scenario by building a skilling system which embraces changing demands of employment market.

Bharatiya Skill Development University partners with Orane International: To impart knowledge on its ‘Beauty and Wellness program’, Bharatiya Skill Development University collaborated with Orane International. The Beauty and Wellness Centre of Excellence is an initiative under the School of Entrepreneurship Skill at the Bharatiya Skill Development University.

Telangana

DDU-GKY yielding good results in rural areas across India: The skill programmes launched for the development in rural areas across India under DDU-GKY is yielding good results. 4.9 lakh rural youth from 27 States and two union territories out of 9.5 lakh youth in the age group of 18-35 were trained in various skills and have been placed in jobs through the DDU-GKY.

UP government may partner BHEL, HAL: To provide industrial and technical training, the Uttar Pradesh government is planning to tie-up with top industrial undertakings such as BHEL, HAL. The partnership will impart the latest technical and industrial know-how at Lucknow-based Institute of Tool Room Training (ITRT).
