Skill development news from the government

Skill vouchers to be introduced by MSDE: MSDE is going to introduce skill vouchers for aspirants to undertake training of their choice. The candidates will be able to redeem the vouchers on the successful completion of the training. This would enable ITIs and other training providers to improve their quality of training and infrastructure to stay competitive.

10 lakh people in textiles sector to get special skill development programme: The textile skill development programme, Samarath is going to be expanded by the textile ministry with an aim to train 10 lakh people. MoUs have been signed with eighteen states and industry partners to take up skill upgradation programme.

Schemes to be implemented to train youth under PMKVY, RPL: To spend the funds and to provide more training to the youth under PMKVY, RPL and other initiatives, the government is going to come out with more schemes. Previously, out of the roughly 5.5 million trained, only 4.2 million were satisfied and finally 1.3 million got jobs.

DSCI to set up national level CoE in collaboration with Ministry of Electronics & IT: The industry body on data protection, DSCI is going to set of a national level centre of excellence (CoE) for cybersecurity. DSCI is working with Ministry of Electronics & IT to set up the centre. 

Adani Foundation celebrates significant milestones of ASDC: To celebrate the significant milestones achieved by Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC), Adani Foundation organised an event. ASDC has trained 50,000 people for various skills and generated 65% livelihood through 45 courses in 9 states.

ACMA signs MoU with Germany’s BFZ: ACMA is going to offer skill training and new tech to domestic component sector in collaboration with Germany’s BFZ, the Training and Development Centres of the Bavarian Employers’ Association. Under the partnership, ACMA and BFZ will work together for implementation of pilot cluster with 6 companies in the NCR region.  

MESC partners MHRD to organise the third chapter of Manthan: The third chapter of‘ “Manthan- Impeccable Academia” was held on 18th December at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi and was organised by MESC and MHRD.Earlier this year, MHRD-MESC organized two Manthan chapters in Hyderabad and Mumbai. https://nationalskillsnetwork.in/mesc-organises-the-third-chapter-of-manthan-in-collaboration-with-mhrd/

Andhra Pradesh:

Skill Development University to be inaugurated in Tirupati: The Government of Andhra Pradesh is going to establish Skill Development University in Tirupati and a high-end Skills University in Visakhapatnam to impart job orientation training in the final lap of education for students.

Goa

Goa CM emphasizes on the importance of skill: In the silver jubilee celebration and annual convocation 2019 of Sesa Private Industrial Training Institute, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighted the importance of skills education and said skill plays a crucial role in shaping one’s life. On the convocation, certificates were handed over to passing out students of 24th batch. The institute provides training in four major trades – machinist, fitter, electrician and instrument mechanic.

Jammu and Kashmir

Committee formed to train 1.25 lakh youth under Himayat: To evaluate the proposal of project implementing agencies to train 1.25 lakh youth under the Himayat scheme, the Government has formed an eight member committee. The committee would be headed by Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education department. he Himayat scheme was launched in2016 by Jammu Kashmir government. 

Kerala

Kerala finalizes venue for India Skills Kerala 2020: The finale venue of upcoming India Skills Kerala 2020 at Swapna Nagari, Kozhikode will showcase Kerala’s rich cultural heritage and eco-friendly initiatives. The event is scheduled for February 22 to 24.

Madhya Pradesh

Hyundai aims to upskill 28,000 dealers across India: To ensure overall technical and soft skill development of technicians and service advisors, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. inaugurated it’s 12th Technical Training Academy in Bhopal. With the training centre, Hyundai aims to upskill 28,000 dealers across India.

Nagaland

A book to trace the migratory journey of youth: A new book by Dolly Kikon and Bengt G. Karlsson ‘Leaving the Land- Indigenous Migration and Affective Labour in India,’  traces the migratory journey of indigenous Nagaland youths in their new lives in the cities. 

West Bengal

550 silk artisans to be trained by EDII under SFURTI: Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) is going to train over 550 Bijoypur silk artisans in the aspirational district of Murshidabad, West Bengal. The project is being undertaken under the cluster development scheme SFURTI by Ministry of MSME.

Bhuhler Group apprenticeship head elected to EBBK: Bhuler Group apprenticeship head, Andreas Bischof was elected tto the extra-parliamentary Federal Vocational Training Commission( EBBK) by the Swiss Federal Council. He leads 600 apprentices at 25 locations in four continents. 

Serious issues affecting mass entrepreneurship found by K. P. Krishnan: K P Krishnan identifies serious issues that affect the success of mass entrepreneurship in India. India’s SME sector employs only 21 per cent people involved in non-farm activities. The problem isn’t the dearth of mass entrepreneurs but their inability to scale up, build assets and create jobs.

  • COL-CEMCA Conducts Three-Day Workshop on Graduate Employability at YCMOU, Nashik, MaharashtraDr. Madhuri Dubey, Founder-Director, NSN, facilitated the workshop as a part of the Commonwealth of Learning - Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CoL-CEMCA) Project on enhancing graduate employability by integrating appropriate skills into the curriculum.The workshop was organized by CoL-CEMCA in collaboration with Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik, from 10th to 12th March, 2026, at the YCMOU campus in Nashik, Maharashtra under the guidance of Dr. B. Shadrach, Director, CEMCA and Dr Jane Agbu , Adviser Higher Education, Commonwealth of Learning.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Sanjeev Sonawane, honourable Vice-Chancellor, YCMOU, and coordinated by Dr. Amol Shirfule, Director i/c, Yash Center for Innovation, Incubation and Linkages and Dr. Nagarjun Wadekar, Director, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, YCMOU.As a part of the comprehensive Graduate Employability Project, the workshop brought together academic leaders representing different schools of specialization, course coordinators, and faculty members from YCMOU to strengthen curriculum design with a focus on employability skills and industry relevance.The workshop emphasised the transition from traditional content-driven teaching to outcome-based education using the Results-Based Management (RBM) Framework.
