11,541 candidates trained in sports sector under PMKVY: Under PMKVY, nearly 11,541 candidates have been trained in the sports sector. QPs that have been developed for the sports sector are Fitness /trainer, LifeGuard-Pool and Beach, Sports Masseur and Physical Activity Facilitator.

Andhra Pradesh

Competitions in 26 skills to be conducted by APSSDC: APSSDC is going to conduct state skills competition in every district in 26 skills in partnership with NSDC. The competitions would give students and youth an opportunity to showcase their unique talents a national and international level.

APSSDC won ASSOCHAM’s gold medal: APSSDC won ASSOCHAM’s gold medal for providing the best skill training in India. It is to be noted that around 662 students trained by APSSDC were selected in the eligibility test conducted by Infosys.

AP Government to open multi-skill development centres: Andhra Pradesh Government is going to open skill varsity and multi-skill development centres in every constituency in the state. The training centres will train the youth and make them industry ready.

Goa

Goa education board emphasizes on internship for vocational students: Higher Secondary schools have been asked to give importance to industry internship for vocational students by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary education. Industry training provides students with the experience of actual working environment, practical knowledge and skills.

SJVN partners with Himachal Pradesh National Law University: Himachal Pradesh National Law University has partnered with SJVN Limited for construction of hostel and mess block for the students of HPNLU. An MoU was signed between the parties regarding the same.

Jammu and Kashmir

1000 candidates to be trained under BADP’s skill development programme: Under Border Area Development Programme, a skill development programme was launched. More than 1000 candidates from three border blocks Samba, Ramgarh and Rajpur will be trained under the programme.

Two days workshop on ‘Skill Development’ was held: Government College for Women, Parade organised two days workshop on skill development for their graduate and post graduate students. The workshop was organised by Department of Psychology and Department of Sociology where more than 100 students participated.

Odisha

Government of India provides CoE status to CUTM’s SoVET: The Government of India acknowledged the efforts of the Centurion University of Technology and Management (CUTM) in skill development by providing the Centre of Excellence status to the School of Vocational Education and Training (SoVET) of the university. SoVET provides skill development education on global standards.

Telangana

National Academy of Construction won Best Institute award: National Academy of Construction (NAC) won the ASSOCHAM Award Gold Trophy in “Best Institute- Placement Category for 2019”. NAC has conducted skill development trainings on various construction trades and finishing school programmes and placed over 75,000 unemployed youth.

NASSCOM partners Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) to enhance employability of students: The main objective of the partnership between NASSCOM and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Tamil Nadu is to promote hiring across the industry and to ensure a well-equipped and industry ready workforce. NASSCOM Future Skills partners with British Council: British Council has collaborated with NASSCOM Future Skills, an initiative on reskilling, to provide English assessments to current and future working professionals to improve language proficiency. As a part of the partnership with British Council, English Score will be available to 200,000 users on NASSCOM Future Skills platform.

MoU signed between NBCC and Fitting Skill Council for execution of RPL: For execution of RPL Best in Class Employers, NBCC signed an MoU with Furniture and Fitting Skill Council under PMKVY.

DAY-NULM organises workshop on accreditation of training centres: One day workshop on accreditation of training centres on Skill Management & Accreditation of Training Centre (SMART) portal was organised by the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). Representatives from NSDC and TPs attended the workshop.

MESC begins TOT programme under skill development mission: MESC is going to conduct the first Train of Trainers (ToT) program in Pune. The training program emphasizes on empowering trainers on methodology, process and techniques to be provided to candidates for the WorldSkills competition.

RSDC Annual Award 2019 organised in Delhi: RSDC organised RSDC Annual Award 2019 in New Delhi. The award function celebrated skilling excellence in the industry and it brought together TPs, assessment agencies, policymakers, representatives from state skill missions, industry, academia and a huge number of stakeholders from all parts of the country.

Maruti Suzuki trains 15000 tribal youths: Under its CSR initiatives, Maruti Suzuki has trained 15000 tribal youth in driving training. 70 percent of the candidates secured employment or have taken up the role of an entrepreneur after the training.

AI driven degree courses should be part of curriculum: Degree courses and professional training programme in Artificial Intelligence should be a part of India’s educational system. Indian education system should include industry training in curriculum: As per the current industry requirement, academia and industry need to co-create a curriculum that will address present-day skill needs. So Indian education system should inculcate industry training in the curriculum to provide the students with the required skills and practical knowledge.
