Skill India Campaign aims to skill 402 million people by 2022. This is powered by the National Policy on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and backed by several government and industry bodies and a host of training partners. Various schemes in PPP model are being worked out to execute this ambitious mission. Let’s get to know some key players from the government perspective. Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
The Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGE&T) in Ministry of Labour is the apex organisation for development and coordination at National level for the programmes relating to vocational training and employment. National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
The NSDC facilitates or catalyses initiatives that can build capacity for skill development through training and assessment. It strives to involve the industry in all aspects of skill development. National Skill Development Agency (NSDA)
NSDA is an autonomous body of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, which will coordinate and harmonize the skill development efforts of the Government and the private sector to achieve the skilling targets of the 12th Plan. National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF)
NSQF is a quality assurance framework which organizes qualifications according to a series of levels of knowledge, skills and aptitude. These levels are defined in terms of learning outcomes which the learner must possess regardless of whether they were acquired through formal, non-formal or informal learning. The Policy presents a nationally integrated education and competency based skill framework that will provide for multiple pathways, horizontal as well as vertical, both within vocational education and training. Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE)

Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
The Ministry is responsible for co-ordination of all skill development efforts across the country, removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower, building the vocational and technical training framework, skill up-gradation, building of new skills, and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)
