First batch of Indian Skill Development Services has been inducted: The government has inducted the first batch of the Indian Skill Development Services (ISDS) in an effort to strengthen the skill development ecosystem in the country.The Indian Skill Development Service (ISDS) has 263 all India posts. Construction of the Indian Institute of Skills to start in Mumbai: Government is going to start the construction of Indian Institute of Skills (ISS) in Mumbai. It will be set up at the campus of National Skill Training Institute in collaboration with the Tata Education Development Trust (TEDT). CREDAI to upskill 20,000 construction workers in collaboration with NSDC: Realtors’ body CREDAI is collaborating with NSDC to provide training to 20,000 workers in the construction and real estate sector this fiscal. These trainings are helping workers to understand the finer technical details of their job role, resulting in an increase in efficiency and decrease in wastage.

Skill Development Program For Construction Workers by NAREDCO: NAREDCO is organising 10 days upskilling and certification program which will be carried out at their construction sites. The program will be conducted by their skilling partner, India vision Realty & Infrastructure Pvt Ltd. NAREDCO has already been awarded to train 50,000 Workers in Maharashtra.

Skill development news from academia and training partners

The launch of Veteran Skilling Program for veterans from Indian Armed Forces: Developed by Learning Links Foundation (LLF) and BridgeNow Academy (BNA), the program is aimed at resettling the Ex-Sevicemen who retire after serving the Indian Armed Forces. IL&FS organised Rozgar Mela in collaboration with NSDC: IL&FS Skill Development Corporation organised Rozgar Mela in association with NSDC at Begumpur village, New Delhi under the PMKVY scheme. 

CBSE partnered with Microsoft and IBM to add AI curriculum in schools: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has signed partnerships with Microsoft India and IBM to focus on digital reskilling for teachers and AI curriculum in schools in an attempt to revamp the education system at a primary level.

Andhra Pradesh

APSCCFC to provide skill development training to 3.6 lakh SC youths: 3.6 lakh SC youths who registered themselves through a portal developed by the state government are going to be trained in skill development and career upgradation by the Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Co-operative Finance Corporation Ltd (APSCCFC). 

Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir Government is ensuring skill development in the district level: The Jammu and Kashmir Government constituted the District Skill Committees (DSC) to ensure quality, consistency and convergence in the skill ecosystem of a particular district. The panels will generate awareness of various initiatives launched by MSDE.

Vocational training on post-harvest technologies was held by KVK Reasi: A five-day vocational training programme on ” Post-harvest technologies in fruit and vegetable crops” was held by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu at Judd village of Pouni block in Reasi District.

Jharkhand

Six districts of Jharkhand have been awarded for excellent execution of District Skill Development plans: As per an announcement from MSDE, six districts of Jharkhand have been awarded for excellent performance and implementation of the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Programme (SANKALP). 

Himachal Pradesh

59,000 unemployed youths to be trained for skill development by Government of Himachal Pradesh: Himachal Pradesh has around 12 lakh unemployed and 20 lakh underemployed. The state government is trying to increase the skills of around 50,000 unemployed youth so that they could generate their own self employment avenue or get placement in industrial houses.

Manipur

Country’s first CSR conclave was held in Manipur: Manipur hosted India’s first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conclave in Imphal. Manipur government has identified sectors like education, skill development, healthcare, social development and human development as priority areas for CSR funding.

NITTTR signs MoU with ABB India to set up simulation lab in Chandigarh: ABB India signs MoU with NITTTR for digital simulation lab in the emerging education hub of Chandigarh. The first of its kind multi-physics Simulation Center of Excellence (SCoE) in the country will enhance skill development for critical electro-mechanical equipment design and manufacturing, catalyzing make in India for the students and the faculty members of the institute.

Telangana

5,000 government school teachers will be trained in IT: 5,000 government school teachers are going to be trained in basic information technology skills by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as part of a memorandum signed by industry-body and the Telangana school education department.

Rajasthan

Bharat Skill Development University partners with Axalta for training in automotive painting: Axalta, a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coating, has partnered with Jaipur-based Bharat Skill Development University (BSDU) for five years. The partnership aims to provide training to more than 200 students with certified programs of six months, one year, or three years for a Bachelor of Vocation (B.VOC.).
