Logistics and supply chain management training company, SafeEducate, launched the 2nd phase of their Container School initiative and SafeEducate’s DDU-GY center on 17th July 2018 at the SafeExpress Logistics Park Campus in. The model school was inaugurated by Shri. Kamran Rizvi the Hon’ble MoRD Joint Secretary (Skills) along with Safeducate Founder and CEO Ms Divya Jain. The DDU-GKY center has a capacity to train 172 students in each batch.
Container School from SafeEducate
The Container School is an innovative concept successfully implemented by Safeducate, where classrooms are made out of recycled containers to be used as skill development centers. The first container school was launched in 2015 by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi on the sidelines of the first Skill India Day. The container school concept has been highly successful and helped in scaling up the skill development initiatives by training over 35,000 students from Tier 3 and rural India in past two years. This novel experiment is widely lauded by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Ministry of Rural Development (MORD) as it has the potential to transform the skilling landscape.
The Second Phase of Container School
The second phase of the Container School initiative aims to expand its geographical reach and increase the base of beneficiaries by more than double its current strengths, i.e. 70,000 students. The innovative concept of converting recycled containers into classrooms and practical labs will greatly bring down the cost and effort involved in developing infrastructure to meet the skilling needs of people. The modular nature of these containers means that they can be disassembled and reinstalled in another location, whenever needed. Over the past 2 years training is being conducted across 20 locations, including Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Dhule, Sawai Madhopur and Jamshedpur.
On the launch of the model school at Binola, MoRD Joint Secretary (Skills) Shri Kamran Rizvi said, “The youth, from the rural areas is uninformed of the new job opportunities emerging in the sunshine sectors such as logistics, e-commerce, etc. Safeducate’s Container School helps provide appropriate training and skills to fight unemployment. We support them in their expansion plan as it prepares the youth to get better acclimatised to the actual working conditions of the industry.”
Ms Divya Jain, Founder and CEO Safeducate said, “As a social enterprise, Safeducate trains the students in different job roles in logistics, retail, e-commerce, etc. The container school outreach initiative helps us to render high quality skill training in even the remotest areas in the country. The containers can be converted into classrooms, restrooms, computer labs, libraries, dormitories, simulation labs, office spaces, receptions mapped according to the skill requirements and needs of the region to create a complete training center.”
The initiative is being part-funded by the Skill Development Ministry under the aegis of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and Skill India Mission.
