Telecom Manthan session1Telecom Manthan session2Telecom Manthan 2018: Detailed Agenda

Keynote Session 1: Telecom as a driver of change- Challenges and Opportunities

Telecom has been the biggest driver of change in various dimensions: potent job creator, powerful tool for enhancing business productivity, growth agent for social change and inclusion, driver and enabler for digital transformation, and an important contributor to GDP. The dynamics of the telecom sector characterized by technology shifts, emerging business models, and new skills requirements poses many challenges but also bears many opportunities.

Panel Discussion 1: Emerging telecom requirements- Enabling students to be job ready

The underlying technologies in telecom are changing rapidly and so are the new skills required by the sector. The telecom sector now requires advanced network engineering skills in 4G and 5G, skills in cloud computing and mobility applications, skills in new areas such as IoT and analytics, and many more. These changes have to reflect in changes in the curriculum so that the output from institutions are ready to get into the job market. Skills should also be augmented through external mechanisms.

Keynote Session 2: Managing the Talent supply chain- Synergizing Industry- Academia Relationships

Industry academia linkages are always a win-win. But the whole industry would get benefitted only if linkages are institutionalized; isolated cases won’t help move the needle. To maximize the value of talent, human resources need to be viewed as assets in the supply chain, wherein these assets have to be enriched in value through skill development. We need to create mechanisms for exchange of value between the academia and the industry.

Panel Discussion 2: How can industry and academia leverage their respective expertise to deliver skilled workforce and entrepreneurs in the telecom sector

The academia and industry need to leverage their respective expertise to create a thriving environment for mutual success. The academia creates talent through formal methods of programmed learning, research, consulting, while the industry creates and operates market models by performing various business functions through the use of capital and employing human talent. To create effective synergy between them, we need to have mechanisms to leverage the respective strengths.

Keynote Session 3: Emerging Skill Ecosystem for ‘Digital India’ and ‘Skill India’

We need to align human talent with the demands of the industry and national development programs like Digital India through an integrated ecosystem approach for skill development and quality assurance of personnel, development of competency-based frameworks for standards, curriculum and skills assessment.

Panel Discussion 3: The present scenario of the skill ecosystem and the way forward for Powering the Skill Ecosystem in collaboration with all Stakeholders

The TSSC believes in adopting an integrated ecosystem approach for skill development and quality assurance of personnel for the telecom industry, development of competency-based frameworks for standards, curriculum and skills assessment. What are the priority initiatives that the industry and council are working on?

Telecom Manthan 2018: Breakout Sessions

Session 1 : Internet of Things & Network Security

Internet of Things will ensure millions if not billions of devices to interconnect. Mobile phone will drive the growth of telecommunications. Related technologies will take Centre stage and telecom companies will have to adapt to this explosion. There is a major need to upgrade the skills of the workforce, especially at the top end of technologies. The telecom industry needs to embrace this trend and look at technical and operational innovations that will not only ensure quick but also secure adaptation in terms of security overlays : Network/Cyber/Application Security.

Session 2 : Applications & Mobility

Today, content, service and product deliveries are taking the major share of the telecommunication revenues as opposed to the core services. Terminal usage of data and telecom services is shifting on to handheld devices in terms of applications. Mobility would become a key enabler as the nation moves towards a true Digital India. Access to services and ease of usage would become the major differentiator in the ever increasing competition and would collectively take us closer to the GOI’s vision.
