 Expression of Interest (EOI) for Semiconductor Practical Training Tools and Equipment

India’s growing semiconductor sector is addressing its skilled manpower shortage through targeted training programs mapped to NSQF levels, fostering innovation and expertise across various fields.

Nasscom Foundation RFP: Seeking Partners to Empower 1,000 Women Artisans in Varanasi

Nasscom Foundation invites qualified non-profit or for-profit organizations in Varanasi to collaborate on a project aimed at enhancing digital and financial skills for 1,000 women artisans. Partners will support mobilization, training, and access to finance, equipping artisans to use digital tools and improve livelihoods.

Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET, UGC

  •  Meta and IndiaAI under MeitY have partnered to boost open-source AI, R&D, and skill development, establishing the Shrijan Center for Generative AI at IIT Jodhpur and launching the ‘AI for Skilling and Capacity Building’ program with AICTE.
  • MSDE has introduced an AI module for 14,681 ITIs across India as part of a 120-hour employability skills curriculum to upskill and equip workforce modernisation.
  • PM Shri Narendra Modi affirmed India’s commitment to globally relevant skills training, emphasizing youth empowerment to drive India’s ascent as a top global economy.
  • The United Nations Development Programme, in partnership with MSDE, NSDC, and UNICEF – YuWaah, launched the “Advantage Apprenticeship” campaign to boost apprenticeship opportunities and connect youth with employment across India.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rozgar Mela, distributing over 51,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth in government roles, underscoring his commitment to employment generation.
  • India invited Australia’s Innovative Research Universities (IRU) alliance to establish a full-time campus in India during his recent visit.
  • The Karnataka government approved the Tourism Policy 2024-29 with a ₹1,349 crore investment to boost infrastructure and attract international tourists, announced Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.

Updates on CSR-skill development

  • MEIL has committed ₹200 crore in CSR to construct Hyderabad’s Young India Skills University, signing an MoU with the state government for state-of-the-art campus facilities.
  • Crompton Greaves, in partnership with Tata Strive, launched the second batch of its Saksham program to empower women from underserved communities with skills for STEM roles in the electrical industry.
  • NTPC Lara invested Rs. 43 crore under CSR to build the Nalanda Campus in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, through an MoU with local authorities, with Finance Minister OP Chaudhary attending the October 27 signing ceremony.

Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government

  • The Pharmacy Council of India is set to appoint a project head for skill and training initiatives, with walk-in interviews scheduled this month.
  • NSTI Noida celebrated its 3rd Convocation honoring over 180 trainees from the 2023-24 batch, with MP Dr. Mahesh Sharma applauding the achievements of female trainees in skill development and workforce empowerment.
  • Uttar Pradesh Universities to introduce four apprenticeship-embedded degree programs to enhance the employability of students pursuing UG degree courses by providing practical experience from the academic session 2024-25.
  • ITI Berhampur was highlighted on the UNESCO-UNEVOC website for its innovative ‘Green Skills for Waste to Wealth’ initiative in TVET.
  • The Association of Garment Exporters Sitapura signed an MoU with Apparel Training and Designing Center to make skilled labour available to the manufacturers and develop courses in CAD, lab technicians, fashion designers and more.
  • ITI Shopian celebrated its 3rd Annual Convocation, honoring the achievements of graduating technicians with students, parents, and faculty in attendance.
  • The Uttar Pradesh government received project reports for 27 CM Model Composite Schools to be developed across 8,000 nyay panchayats.
