Top highlights in skill education in India

  • The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Sector Council (THSC) has released a report on the Demand And Skill Gap, estimating training 5.7M youth to meet 3M labor demand by 2025-2028. And Challenges like low wages and long hours hinder youth retention in the industry.
  • Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) partners with the Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) to boost green energy skills in India and support India’s renewable energy goals, fostering a skilled workforce for a greener future.
  • The Bajaj Group pledges Rs. 5,000 crores for social impact through ‘Bajaj Beyond’, emphasizing skill development for 2 crore youth for employment and entrepreneurial opportunities in India’s growing economy.
  • Starbucks India to offer apprenticeships for its Varanasi outlet. Eligibility criteria include students pursuing 11th grade or secondary education, as well as those with a 10th-grade qualification. The program offers a 12-month paid apprenticeship with on-the-job training.

Exclusive Opportunities: EOI and RFP Updates from Government of Gujarat, TNSDC

EoI for setting up Centres of Excellence under MEGA TVET Project

The government of Gujarat is inviting EOIs for establishing Centers of Excellence under Gujarat’s MEGA TVET Project, transforming 41 Nodal ITIs into advanced training institutes aligned with Industry 4.0. Last date is April 8th, 2024. Click here to submit the application.

RFP for establishing Four International Standard Centres of Excellence under GATI project

The Government of Gujarat, through the Gujarat Skill Development Mission (GSDM) under the Labour, Skill Development, and Employment Department (LSD & ED), is inviting Request for Expression of Interest (EOI) to establish Four International Standard Centers of Excellence (CoE) under the GATI project. TNSDC-EOI for Master Trainers and Master Assessor

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) invites Expression of Interest (EOI) for Empanelment of Master Trainer and Master Assessor for Skill Development Training’s under TNSDC. Last date to apply is March 31st, 2024. Interested and eligible candidates shall submit their application by clicking on the link here.

Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET

  • NSDC has partnered with IIT Guwahati and Acciojob to launch a unique microcredit cybersecurity and data analytics program enabling the youth to access high-quality education conveniently.
  • MNRE has launched a skill scheme for green hydrogen, focusing on gaps, registries, and tailored curricula in collaboration with MSDE to establish CoEs and promote private sector OJT.

Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government

  • NCERT to release revised CBSE syllabus for Grade III and VI aligned with NCF-SE 2023. And aims to enhance the curriculum in line with the new framework, from the forthcoming academic session (2024-25).
  • Saint-Gobain Gyproc India has partnered with ITI Wada, Maharashtra, to conduct high employability training programs, enhancing industry linkages and student employability in drywall and false ceiling trade.
  • National Power Training Institute and IIT Delhi, in collaboration with the government of Madhya Pradesh to set up a Centre of Excellence for upskilling students at Global Skill Park in Bhopal.
  • The High Court has directed Telangana Pharmacy Council to register pharmacists, pending certificate verification including Intermediate (vocational course) Medical Laboratory Technician and bridge course certificates.
  • Odisha’s Centurion University stands out as an “entrepreneurial university” and “industrial hub,” with students managing 30+ production units in various sectors.
  • ETS India has collaborated with CII to foster global employability of India’s workforce by focusing on english language proficiency and 21st-century skills.

Skilling and Upskilling in Emerging Technologies

  • Nasscom Foundation and DXC Technology have collaborated to bridge India’s digital divide, empowering 400,000 marginalized individuals through digital literacy initiatives.
