Capital Goods & Strategic Skill Council Invites EOIs for Skill Training Projects in West Bengal

The Capital Goods & Strategic Skill Council (CGSSC) invites Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from eligible Training Partners to undertake Short-Term Training projects in West Bengal. These projects will be implemented under the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes Development & Finance Corporation across various CGSSC job roles.

Interested Training Partners must submit their detailed proposals along with the required documents as per the checklist provided. Proposals should be sent to the CEO, CGSSC, New Delhi, by 4:00 PM on December 31, 2024.

TSC Invites EOI for Empanelment of Textile Training Providers for MSMEs in Maharashtra

The Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC) invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced Textile Training Providers to deliver specialized training for MSMEs in Maharashtra’s textile sector. The initiative includes Recruit-Train-Deploy and Upskilling/Reskilling programs, starting January 2025. Eligible organizations must have a minimum of three years of experience and adequate training infrastructure.

Updates from the government

  • The National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI) inaugurated a new Extension Centre in Lucknow to enhance vocational education and skill development in northern India.
  • The UGC will soon introduce guidelines for skill-based courses and micro-credentials in HEIs to equip students with industry-relevant skills, advancing NEP 2020 objectives.
  • The Tamil Nadu government inaugurated 29 skill and placement centers across the state to enhance youth employability through industry-aligned training and certifications.
  • The 41st NSQC meeting, chaired by Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, brought together 157 stakeholders from ABs, industries, and government bodies to review and approve 73 Skill Qualifications, focusing on advancing the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).

Skill development Updates on CSR, Industry

  • Fakir Mohan University has signed an MoU with CII to bridge the academia-industry gap through skill development, leadership training, and participation in the “YI Yuva” program.
  • Vedanta Aluminium has launched ‘VeDakshata,’ a skills training center in Odisha’s Sundargarh district to provide placement-linked training for underprivileged and aspiring youth in the region.
  • The Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) Kargil inaugurated a two-day Skill Development Workshop for journalists, focusing on digital content creation, photography techniques, and news reach algorithms.
  • The Oberoi Group launched “RISE,” a skill development program aimed at enhancing career opportunities for youth in the hospitality industry through training and mentorship.
  • Sodhani Academy of Fintech Enablers (SAFE) has partnered with the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India to enhance skill development and employment opportunities in the BFSI sector.
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor partners with 70 ITIs in Karnataka to enhance technical education, promote employability, and support India’s Make in India and Skill India missions.
  • CII and AICTE sign an MoU to boost industry-oriented skill development in India, bridging academia-industry gaps for improved employability.
  • NSDC International and PhysicsWallah launch Bharat Innovation Global (BIG), aiming to position India as a global education hub through flexible, technology-driven learning pathways.
  • India’s medical devices market becomes the fourth largest globally, with growth driven by advancements in technology and healthcare.
  • The Gujarat Knowledge Society and Edunet Foundation, supported by Shell India, have launched the Skills4Future program to train Gujarat’s youth in cutting-edge technologies through Digital and EV Training Labs and industry-aligned courses.
  • The 3rd CIL CSR Conclave 2024 was held in Kolkata by West Bengal Governor Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, highlighting CSR’s transformative impact on tribal communities in coal-bearing regions.
  • POWERGRID inaugurated a Skill Development Centre at Banka Sub-station to train youth in tower stringing and power transmission skills as part of its CSR initiatives.
  • HCL Foundation hosted the My E-Haat Conclave 2024 in New Delhi, focusing on revitalizing the craft economy and empowering artisans through its CSR-funded online marketplace.

Skilling and Upskilling in Academia and Emerging Technologies

  • Kinetic Green and Vishwakarma Institutes & University (VI&U) have partnered to promote skill-based training, research, and industry-aligned education in AI and sustainable automotive technologies.
  • IIM Raipur, in collaboration with MSME, invites applications for free Advanced E-SDP and MDP programs on entrepreneurship and business scale-up, running in February 2025; apply by January 12, 2025.
  • Blue Ocean Corporation partners with IILM University to launch a skill development program in logistics and supply chain management, aligned with NEP to meet India’s growing demand for skilled professionals.
  • Madhya Pradesh’s Sant Shiromani Ravidas Global Skills Park has successfully manufactured high-quality bearing parts for the Vande Bharat Train, marking a milestone in the state’s progress under PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign.
  • The new ITI upgradation scheme announced in the FY25 Budget is set to launch in January 2025, with MSDE requesting a reduced allocation of Rs 294 crore for the current financial year.
  • Bosch India Foundation and Medhavi Group have signed an MoU to advance skill development, promote employability, and bridge skill gaps across industries.
  • Sankoo campus of GDC Kargil, Ladakh distributes skill certificates for NEP-aligned courses, aiming to enhance employability and bridge education-industry gaps.
  • AICTE launched a new curriculum for Electrical Engineering focused on industry relevance and innovation to better equip students for the workforce.
