Top 4 highlights in skill education in India

  • Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched key initiatives in School and Teacher Education to advance the education system and empower teachers and learners, aligning with NEP 2020 goals.
  • TeamLease EdTech, DHTE Maharashtra, and NSDC have partnered to enhance youth employability in Maharashtra, supporting the state’s goal of a $1 trillion economy by 2028.
  • Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) has partnered with the Government of India and Maharashtra’s Social Justice Department to train 50,000 women under the PM EV2Solar Project.
  • Tata Technologies has partnered with the government of Telangana to modernize 65 ITIs into skill development centres with Rs 2324 crore project.

Exclusive Opportunities: EOI and RFP Updates from Government of Gujarat, TNSDC

EoI for setting up Centres of Excellence under MEGA TVET Project

The government of Gujarat is inviting EOIs for establishing Centers of Excellence under Gujarat’s MEGA TVET Project, transforming 41 Nodal ITIs into advanced training institutes aligned with Industry 4.0. Last date is April 8th, 2024. Click here to submit the application.

RFP for establishing Four International Standard Centres of Excellence under GATI project

The Government of Gujarat, through the Gujarat Skill Development Mission (GSDM) under the Labour, Skill Development, and Employment Department (LSD & ED), is inviting Request for Expression of Interest (EOI) to establish Four International Standard Centers of Excellence (CoE) under the GATI project. The last date is April 12th, 2024. Click here to know more and submit the proposal.

TNSDC-EOI for Master Trainers and Master Assessor

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) invites Expression of Interest (EOI) for Empanelment of Master Trainer and Master Assessor for Skill Development Training’s under TNSDC. Last date to apply is March 31st, 2024. Interested and eligible candidates shall submit their application by clicking on the link here.

Updates from the MSDE, NSDC, NCVET

  • Over 8,500 youths joined the Kaushal Mahotsav mega recruitment drive organized by NSDC, interacting with 84 employers across sectors.
  • Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has inaugurated CoEs virtually at SDI Bhubaneswar, enhancing youth employability in media and electronics at Skill Development Institute.
  • Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan announces strategic partnerships to enhance skill ecosystem and also launched Mock Test 2.0 and 4 new courses in AI and Cyber Security.

Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government

  • TNSDC, SITRA, and the Department of Textiles have partnered for a skill development program to train 8,950 workers in spinning, weaving, garmenting, and technical textiles.
  • A week-long skill training program was encompassed by practical and theoretical aspects on Banana Fibre Extraction and Handicraft Product Development was organised in Dimapur.
  • Government plans to boost apprenticeship training in MSMEs by shortening tenure to 3 months, increasing stipend subsidies to 50%, providing tax incentives, and engaging the private sector to address staff shortages.
  • Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) discussed its expansion plans in Telangana, including a ₹700 crore greenfield plant, with Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
  • A three-day state-level skill training ‘Jharkhand Skills Competition’ was launched in Ranchi from March 11-13 as part of the World Skills Competition 2024.
  • Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation and National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology has signed an MoU to provide training and execute joint skill development and capacity building projects across 51 eDaskh centres.
  • Emaar India has launched “Shram,” a skill program for construction workers, as part of its ESG commitment, covering bar bending, masonry, shuttering, and carpentry training.
  • J&K Skill Development Mission, in collaboration with MSDE and NSDC, organized a State level ‘India Skills Competition 2023-24’ of cooking skill at Institute of Hotel Management.
  • ICFAI University Nagaland and the Department of Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship held a National Apprenticeship Awareness Workshop and highlighted opportunities for the students under the Apprenticeship Act 1961 and Rules of 1992.
  • Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated Hyderabad’s first NIELIT center virtually marking an important collaboration with TASK for skill development.

Skilling and Upskilling in Emerging Technologies

  • ITIs across India to soon integrate ‘AI for All’ into curriculum, boosting employability in collaboration with Future Right Skills Network and DGT.
