RBL Bank launches Udbhav RBL School as a part of social initiatives

Udbhav RBL School, a part of RBL Bank’s social initiatives is all set to promote girl child education in India by creating opportunities for underprivileged students living in Fatehnagar, Hyderabad. An inaugural event was held in Hyderabad where many dignitaries were present. The school was inaugurated by Shri Jitendar, IPS, Addl. DGP (Law & Order), Govt. of Telangana. 

Addressing children at the event, Dr. R.S. Praveen Kumar, IPS, Secretary, TTWREIS, Government of Telangana, said “I come from a very humble background myself, but there is no limit to what you can achieve if you have the determination to. Today, I am very thankful to the IIMAAAHCCT and the donors for supporting many underprivileged children. The Government of Telangana supports education of children and spends close to Rs. 75,000 each student a year, for their education.”

Speaking at the launch of the school, Shanta Vallury Gandhi, Head – HR, CSR and Internal Branding, RBL Bank, said, “We are enthused by the launch of Udbhav RBL School and through this school we aim to transform the lives of the underprivileged girls by providing access to quality education. These girls are the future of our country and we at RBL Bank echo the sentiment of ‘Educate a girl child, educate a nation’. Girl Child Education is a cause really close to our hearts and we look forward to enabling little girls to become powerful independent women of tomorrow. Udbhav School has helped us empower these girls by building their skills and capabilities at a young age to make them future ready for a successful career. We have further tied up with a skill building company so that children can make a future after educating themselves.”

rbl_bank_inaugurates_udbhav_rbl_schoolMr. Harish Kumar, Correspondent, Udbhav RBL School said, “Udbhav is committed to its vision of providing holistic education to 10,000 underprivileged children by 2025 and transforming Udbhav RBL School into a ‘Model School’ providing academic excellence.”

Speaking at the event, Jasmeet Singh Gandhi, Lead Cyclist, UMEED 1000 Cyclothon, said “Through this project we have a deep sense of satisfaction & gratitude, but there have been untiring efforts from many people who work very hard to make this a huge success – the Udbhav School Team, the RBL Team and the IIMAAAHCCT team.”

RBL Bank has announced the ‘Udbhav RBL Girl Child Scholarship’ to support the education of meritorious girl students through Ashoka University. The Bank will sponsor the deserving girl children with a scholarship of INR 40 Lakhs over a period of 4 years. 

In the event it was also announced that as many as 360 students are going to receive education every year in Udbhav RBL School under RBL Bank’s unique initiative UMEED 1000 Cyclothon.  

‘UMEED 1000 Cyclothon’ is RBL Bank’s flagship CSR initiative to address the grave issue of girl child education. Under this initiative, they raise funds and create awareness for Girl Child education. Over the past 5 years, employees from RBL Bank have cycled 1000 kms. each year across different routes in India and have overall raised INR 6 crores towards the cause. 

The funds raised will help our NGO partner Udbhav School to provide these students with quality education, notebooks, textbooks and uniforms. Additionally, the school has set up a science incubation centre to foster the spirit of scientific innovation amongst the students.
