Kaushal Mahotsav in Dhenkanal provides 1200 job offers to youth in Odisha in a day

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), organised a “Kaushal Mahotsav” on 6th November 2022, at Sarangadhar Stadium, Kamakhyanagar Stadium in Dhenkanal. 

The program witnessed an incredible response to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s call to focus on connecting opportunities with the skills of our youth and making India the skill capital of the world. Several apprenticeship and job opportunities were provided for the youth of Odisha by more than 70 dream companies in more than 20 different sectors.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan; Union Minister for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Shri Mahesh Sahoo; Member of Parliament for Dhenkanal, Odisha, and Shri Prafulla Kumar Malik; Minister for Steel & Mines and Works, attended the program’s inauguration. Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), also addressed the program.

Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said, “The youth of Kamakhyanagar and Dhenkanal have immense potential and they must be extended all possible opportunities. With various infrastructure and economic developments, I am certain that we can build multiple such skill hubs to support local economic growth and benefit our youth.” He further said, “We saw thousands of youths register for jobs at the Kaushal Mahotsav and about 1,200 of them have already received offer letters from these corporations. Over a hundred companies, including Maruti Suzuki, HCL JSW, Amazon, L&T, Urban Clap, etc., were on site to offer job chances to the youth. The State will host a number of events in this series on a recurring basis, providing the local youth and communities of Odisha with a variety of opportunities. I wish the candidates the very best for their future and I am sure each one of you will deliver your best.”

Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), expressed his pleasure at seeing such enthusiasm among Odisha’s youth to embrace opportunities. “We are certain that we will be able to provide a new world of opportunity for everyone here by working under the direction of MSDE and in solid relationship with our corporate partners.”

During the one-day event, a number of Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) and companies displayed their services at a Skill Exhibition to raise awareness among youth about skill development. Additionally, several candidates had the chance to participate in group counselling and a free psychometric test at the Kaushal Mahotsav. Those who did not receive opportunities were advised to sign up on @nsdcdigital.nsdcindia.org, submit their applications and keep looking for suitable employment opportunities while also having access to online counselling.

The participants also saw demonstrations of drone and AR/VR technologies and learned about potential job prospects in the sector. The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) are some of the skill-training programs and initiatives that the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has been putting into place to strengthen the Skill India Mission.
