It is held once every two years, and this year it was held decentralised over Europe, North America, and East Asia from September 3 to November 28, 2022. India placed 11th in the WorldSkills Competition 2022 (WSC 2022), moving up from 13th in 2019, gaining 2 silver medals, 3 bronze medals, and 13 medals of excellence. This win indicates a rise in participation in competitions that encourage young people to pursue excellence and foster a passion for skills among youth, trainers, and other key stakeholders in the skill ecosystem.

The women competitors delivered an exceptional performance: Nandita Saxena took home a silver medal in the patisserie and confectionery industry, and Anushree Srinivasan got a bronze medal for her expertise in hotel service, plus two medals for excellence in hairdressing and health and social care.
