Exemplary performance by CV Raman Global University students in Odisha Skills 2021

CV Raman Global University created yet another history in the recently held Odisha Skills Competition 2021. The university received 37 medals in 18 categories as a result of the students’ outstanding performance. There are 14 gold, 15 silver, and 8 bronze medals among the 37 medals. The institution also hosted the competition for nine skills, including Mobile Robotics and Computer Solution, on their campus. 

The world-class training and facilities provided in the Centre of Excellence (CoE) of the university played a crucial role in the achievements of the students in the Odisha Skills competition.

Team NSN reached out to the participants from CV Raman Global University to congratulate them and learn more about their journey and experience in the competition so far. Let us meet the winners to know more. (This is the first part of the series on Skills Competitions Winners)

Aasish Kumar Jena

Aasish Kumar Jena, Mechatronics Skills, Odisha Skills 2021

Aasish Kumar Jena won a Gold medal in Mechatronics skills. Currently, He is studying Mechatronics at C.V. Raman Global University. For the recent held Odisha Skills competition, He was trained at C.V. Raman Centre of Excellence (CoE). The world-class training helped him get hands-on experience and all the necessary skills. 

Sharing his plans for the preparations for the next level of the competition, he said, ” I am putting my best possible efforts for the upcoming competitions and getting trained in our CoE by referring to the WorldSkills documents. I’m very happy with my progress and constantly striving for delivering my best. As stress management and time management are two must-have skills for all the participants, I am trying to learn these skills. I’m also improvising to perform efficiently and with perfection.”

Sagar Saurav

Sagar Saurav, Web Design and Web Development, Odisha Skills 2021

Sagar Saurav is studying BTech at CV Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The technology he participated in was Web Design and Web Development which includes the design and development of websites and webpages with full functionality. He won a gold medal along with a cash prize of INR 25,000 in the state-level competition. 

Talking about the training for the competition, he said, ” In 2019, I have been selected for the training of web development for which my college sent me to Noida for the training in a company named Smalt and Beryl. I am delighted that my college gave me this amazing training opportunity. Starting from the basic to the advanced level, my trainers helped me build the right expertise and skills for the competition. The training was indeed very helpful.”

“I have already started with the training for the regional competition. I am trying my best to clear the next round also. I will be practising with the hands-on concepts and mock tests”, Sagar added.

Shwetabh Thakur

Shwetabh Thakur, Hotel Reception Skill, Odisha Skills 2021

Shwetabh Thakur is pursuing his B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration at Ranjita Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Bhubaneswar. In the recently held Odisha Skills competition, he won a gold medal in Hotel Reception Skill. 

Emphasizing the importance of proper training and a good trainer, Shwetabh said, ” I was being trained by one of our faculty members in our college. It was a very good experience to be trained under him. The importance of a trainer during training is very essential because trainer is the person who guides us and makes us learn the relevant skills. Our trainers made us practice as per the module and the training helped me to get the gold medal.”

With an aim to prepare for the upcoming regional and national level competition, he is getting trained according to the WorldSkills modules while being guided by his trainer. The rigorous training is helping him improve himself by learning things meticulously.

Subrat Patel

Subrat Patel, Restaurant Services Skill, Odisha Skills 2021

Subrat Patel is pursuing B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, Ranjita Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Bhubaneswar. He participated in Restaurant Services Skill and won a gold medal in the recently held Odisha Skills competition. When asked about his performance in the competition he ranked it 8 out of 10. 

Looking back at the training for the competition, he said, “I was trained under the guidance of my mentor Mr. Abhilash Dash. The training was rigorous which helped me prepare myself for the competition and led me to win the gold medal.”

He also added that he is practising according to the WorldSkills module and working hard on improving his speed, perfection and communication.

Swaraj Kumar Sahoo

Swaraj Kumar Sahoo, Mechatronics Skills, Odisha Skills 2021

Swaraj Kumar Sahoo is a Mechatronics student from C.V. Raman Global University. He participated in the recently held Odisha Skills competition under Mechatronics skills and won a gold medal. 

Talking about his preparation for the competition, he said, ” I’m being trained at C.V. Raman Centre of Excellence (CoE). My trainers have helped me in every phase. It is my first attempt at the competition and I’m very happy with my progress. I constantly strive to improve myself and perform the best.”

He is being trained at the university for the upcoming competitions where he is building the necessary skills as per WorldSkills requirements.

Odisha Skills Competition provides youth with a platform to showcase their skills and talent. The winners from state-level skill competition will participate in the Regional Level, followed by National Skill Competition. The national champions will represent India in the global World Skills competition in Shanghai, China in 2022.
