In a first, Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and IBM collaborate to offer technical training in latest technologies under Skill India mission. Telecom sector is dependent on latest IT skills such Cloud, Internet of Things (IOT) and Big Data for effective communications. Since, these are critical technologies, this industry sector finds several skill gaps among the people employed in this sector. On 8th August 2017,  TSSC signed an MoU with IBM to explore how various organizations in this sector can build technology skills across India. The main objective of this MoU is to provide skill-based training to students and young professionals through a program designed to train them in emerging technologies such as Big Data, Cloud, IoT and Mobile Application Development.

TSSC IBM offer IOT Big Data skills1Under the program, IBM and TSSC will develop an innovative curriculum, designed by technology experts from IBM and domain specialists from TSSC. Students will have access to relevant IBM software and platforms, including IBM Cloud, IBM Watson IoT platform, Big Data Solutions as well as mobile application development tools. After completing the program successfully, the  students and young professionals will be certified by IBM Career Education and TSSC. TSSC, thus,  has the unique distinction of offering IBM courses.

TSSC IBM offer IOT Big Data skillsCommenting on the collaboration, Lt. Gen. (Retired) and CEO of Telecom Sector Skill Council SP Kochhar said, “We are delighted to partner with IBM in our endeavor to train and skill India’s youth, boost growth and productivity in the Telecom sector. We believe IBM’s resources will enable telecom sector professionals with new-age capabilities and narrow the existing gap between demand and supply of skills.”

“Our collaboration with TSSC reiterates IBM’s commitment to spur innovation in India through emerging technologies. As a part of this initiative, we will work closely with TSSC to enable its partner organizations across the country with the right training and technologies to support the growing needs of the Indian Telecom Sector. We are confident that this partnership will help bridge the skills gap and prepare young Indian professionals for the new collar jobs of today and those to come in the future,” said Karan Bajwa, Regional General Manager, IBM India / South Asia.

Students and young professionals can apply for the program directly through TSSC partners. Each course is one-week long, with the program commencing August 2017.

  • Technical skills may get you into a workplace. But what helps you navigate it?That was the conversation we explored last week at NSTI Women, Hyderabad, during our session on the human side of employability with the young CTS students. The students participated with enthusiasm and curiosity. A big thank you to Deputy Director Ms. Arulselvi for the warm welcome and for taking us through the institute.Walking through the practical classrooms and interacting with students and faculty gave us an immersive glimpse into the learning happening across areas such as Cosmetology, Architectural Draughtsman, Fashion Design Technology and AI & IoT.As we moved from one classroom to another, it was interesting to see the students and faculty at work and hear about their project goals and experiences. It also reinforced something we often talk about at NSN, technical learning and transferable skills cannot really be separated when we talk about employability. We left with plenty to think about, and hopefully, the students did too.#technicaltraining #employability #iti #skills #education #technology #ai
