This week’s NSN Newsbytes bring you a comprehensive roundup of impactful government initiatives, CSR efforts, and academic collaborations shaping India’s skilling landscape. From President Droupadi Murmu honouring skill trainers with the National Teachers’ Awards and the ₹100-crore International Institute for People with Disabilities project in Kasaragod, to APSSDC’s global recruitment tie-ups and NIRF 2025 rankings of top skill universities, governments are making bold moves to boost employability and inclusion.

States like Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Delhi have also announced significant programmes in ITIs, green skills, and traditional industries, while Australia and India deepen cooperation in skill development. We also cover two key announcements – the launch of IDA Awards 2025 recognising excellence in education and skills, and the opening of PG DVET 2025-26 admissions by PSSCIVE, NCERT.

On the industry and CSR front, ASDC’s Annual Conclave, MoUs by NALCO and Diageo, Samsung’s AI skilling push, and Microchip’s STEM-focused initiatives underline strong private sector participation. Academia too is stepping up, with Kotak Education Foundation’s Skill2Win programme equipping youth with future-ready IT, communication, and life skills.

The IDA Awards, presented by the India Didactics Association, are India’s only national-level awards that recognise excellence, innovation, and leadership across Schools, Colleges, Universities, and Skill Development Institutions.

  • Meghalaya government’s MSSDS signs MoU with Japan’s Asean One Co. Ltd. to create global career opportunities for Meghalaya youth.
  • APSSDC partners with DEKRA Arbeit to recruit Andhra Pradesh youth for global opportunities, starting with nursing jobs in Germany.
  • NIRF 2025 ranks Symbiosis Skills Pune first, Symbiosis Indore second, and Shri Vishwakarma Skill University Palwal third among top skill universities.
  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath announces 7,768 ITI instructor posts approved; UPSSSC declares results, enabling 1,510 vocational trade appointments.
  • National Academy of Construction (NAC) trainer, Snehalatha wins National Best Teachers Award from President Murmu for exemplary vocational training, making Telangana proud as sole recipient.
  • The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) under MSDE hosted apprenticeship drive in Guwahati, boosting paid training opportunities for Northeast youth, aligned with PM’s Viksit Bharat vision.
  • Delhi government to launch ₹50-crore skill programme promoting Cottage, Khadi, Village industries, training 14,000 youth and artisans with NSDC, NIESBUD.

PG Diploma in Vocational Education and Training (PG DVET) 2025-26

The programme, offered in a Distance-Cum-Contact Mode, is designed to build professional expertise in vocational education, training, and skill development.   • Diageo India signs MoU with THSC to train 300 students under ‘Learning for Life,’ fostering skilled, diverse, future-ready workforce.
  • Samsung Innovation Campus to train 20,000 underserved students in AI, IoT, big data, and coding, marking a six-fold programme expansion.
  • Karnataka Media Academy partners with Infosys Springboard CSR to train journalists in digital media, soft skills, and professional capacity building.
  • Microchip Technology strengthens CSR in India, advancing STEM education, vocational training, and workforce readiness to empower underserved youth and communities.

Skilling and upskilling in academia and emerging technologies
