India’s education system is rapidly evolving, with skills and employability emerging as crucial drivers of success alongside traditional degrees. In a major milestone for the country’s skilling ecosystem, Scope Global Skills University (SGSU), India’s first skills-focused university established by AISECT; has been formally recognized as an Awarding Body (Dual) by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) under MSDE.

This recognition authorizes SGSU to award, assess, and certify learners for its NSQF-aligned qualifications, placing the university among a select group of institutions empowered to directly certify learners. As an NCVET-approved awarding body, SGSU is also empowered to design new courses and qualifications aligned with industry needs, enhancing learners’ employability and creating stronger pathways to employment. The awarding body status further strengthens SGSU’s commitment to standardization, credibility, and employability in vocational education, positioning the university to play a key role in building a skilled workforce aligned with industry requirements.

Scope Global Skills University (SGSU) Receives NCVET Dual Recognition as Awarding Body

Standardization and quality benchmarks in skill education

Welcoming the recognition, Dr. Siddharth Chaturvedi, Chancellor of SGSU, reflected on its broader significance, “This recognition underscores the importance of standardization and quality benchmarks in skill education. With NCVET’s recognition, the focus can now shift toward creating qualifications that not only meet industry expectations but also advance national priorities in workforce development.”

The NCVET recognition also emphasizes the broader impact of awarding bodies in strengthening the skill development ecosystem. “By setting standards and ensuring the quality of training programs, they help equip youth with industry-relevant skills that enhance their employability. In addition, these awarding bodies have the authority to design new qualifications in line with industry requirements and certify students in those qualifications, thereby creating stronger pathways to employment.” He added.

This milestone validates SGSU’s vision of bridging the gap between formal higher education and skill-based learning pathways, ensuring that vocational qualifications are both credible and impactful.

Expanding focus on future-ready industry sectors

Charting the way forward, Dr. Vijay Singh, Vice Chancellor, SGSU, outlined the university’s next phase of growth, saying “Our next step is to strengthen partnerships with industry while aligning programs with emerging sectors such as IT, renewable energy, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. To support this vision, the university has established state-of-the-art Centres of Excellence (CoE) in areas including Internet of Things (IoT), Automotive Technology, and Renewable Energy.”

Currently, SGSU has developed Centres of Excellence (CoE) in cutting-edge domains such as:

  •       Internet of Things (IoT)
  •       Automotive Technology
  •       Welding Technology
  •       Precision Engineering
  •       Renewable Energy
  •       Animation, Multimedia & Gaming (AVGC)
  •       AR/VR Technologies

These initiatives ensure that learners acquire future-ready skills that match both domestic and global industry needs.

Strengthening industry–academia collaboration

Partnerships with leading industries have been the cornerstone of SGSU’s approach to hands-on learning. Reflecting this, Dr. Sitesh Kumar Sinha, Registrar, SGSU, highlighted the university’s emphasis on practical training stating, “Our specialised laboratories and partnerships with leading companies such as Lucas-Nuelle and Hero Motors provide students with practical training and real-world exposure. This recognition positions SGSU to play a key role in India’s evolving skill development ecosystem.”

Through such collaborations, SGSU ensures that learners graduate with practical skills, global exposure, and industry-recognised certifications.

How NCVET recognition benefits the learners

The NCVET Awarding Body status enables SGSU to:

  •       Certify learners across multiple sectors with industry recognised qualifications
  •       Enhance employability through industry-relevant programs
  •       Bridge the gap between vocational education and higher education

While this approval strengthens SGSU’s role in building a future-ready workforce that contributes to India’s economic growth and innovation, it also benefits the students with government recognized certification.

Shaping India’s skilling future

By integrating technology, sustainability, and employability into its programs, SGSU is poised to redefine vocational education in India. The NCVET recognition not only validates the university’s pioneering vision but also expands opportunities for learners across the country by positioning SGSU as a key force in shaping India’s journey toward becoming a Viksit Bharat.

  • We often talk about innovation, future skills, and employability. But the real foundation for all of this is built much earlier, in our schools.Students from PM SHRI Demonstration Multipurpose School (DMS), Bhopal, have developed a smart multi-sensor safety system that can detect gas leaks, fire, temperature, and humidity, along with real-time alerts. What makes this noteworthy is not just the outcome, but the learning process behind it.This is what happens when students move beyond textbooks and engage in hands-on, application-based learning. They don’t just understand concepts; they apply them to solve real-world problems. It’s a reminder that when students are given the right opportunities, guidance, and environment, their potential can translate into meaningful, practical solutions. As conversations around skill education and future readiness continue to grow, there is a clear need to create more such learning experiences in schools, where curiosity, experimentation, and problem-solving are at the core.Because that is where real learning begins.#skilldevelopment #education #studentinnovation #learningbydoing #educationtransformation #STEMEducation #younginnovators
