Skill development updates from the government

  • The Jharkhand government has implemented multiple innovative models to enhance quality of school education and bridge the urban-rural divide.
  • The government of Uttar Pradesh has launched a DDU-GKY capacity-building workshop to upskill trainers of rural youth with new methodologies, technologies, and solutions.
  • The government of Arunachal Pradesh inaugurated an IT Skill Development Centre at Menchuka, Shi-Yomi, under ‘Operation Sadbhavana’ to empower border youth with digital skills and opportunities.
  • MSDE and Microsoft have launched ‘AI Careers for Women’ to train women in AI across 150 institutions in Tier-II and Tier-III towns, aiming to bridge the gender gap in tech and boost digital inclusion.
  • Union Minister Shri Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated an NSDC-PDEU Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar to offer specialised training in advanced manufacturing and emerging sectors through 40+ online and hybrid courses.
  • The government of Uttar Pradesh has signed an MoU with the Smart Energy Council of Australia and Hinduja Group to boost green energy jobs, skill development, and tech collaboration from 2025 to 2027.

Skill development updates on CSR, Industry

  • .The Rouble Nagi Art Foundation has opened a Women’s Skill Centre in Pulwama’s Zagigam to empower local women through vocational training and entrepreneurship.
  • AICTE and IG Drones have partnered to establish 50 Drone Centres of Excellence in engineering colleges, training over 10,000 students in drone technology for sectors like agriculture, defence, and logistics.
  • NSDC and Rapido have partnered to train and certify gig workers across India, creating sustainable earning opportunities by linking skill development with Rapido’s transport network.
  • East Singhbhum administration is set to launch Project Anveshana 2.0, taking students from 25 government schools on industry visits to boost career exposure and learning.
  • Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the 68th T-TEP and STAR Scholarship at Govt ITI Roing to provide vocational training and financial support for students pursuing automotive careers.
  • THSC successfully concluded its women empowerment initiative by training and placing 150 women in top hospitality brands, enabling careers with salaries up to ₹25,000 per month.
  • Gateway Terminals India, JNPA, and Vadhvan Port Project have partnered to launch a port sector skill development program under Skill India, aiming to train local youth in safety, maintenance, and operations.
  • Mahindra Holidays has partnered with The Job Plus to launch a nationwide skilling initiative aimed at empowering youth with hospitality skills and supporting its expansion to 10,000 rooms by FY30.
  • Britannia Marie Gold has launched Season 2 of Her Start-Up Show on JioHotstar, featuring 40 women entrepreneurs competing for a ₹10 lakh Golden Grant.
  • Hindustan Zinc concluded Sakhi Utsav 2025, empowering over 25,000 rural women through employment and credit-linkage opportunities in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand.

Skilling and upskilling in academia and emerging technologies

  • Government school students in Indore will now learn software development using their smartphones, boosting digital literacy and job-ready skills.
  • Chai Point and Medhavi Skills University have partnered to launch a pan-India “Learn While You Earn” program, offering UGC- and AICTE-recognised vocational courses to frontline staff across all locations.
  • Public universities in the state will soon adopt a common academic calendar, credit framework, and adaptive learning policy to enable flexible, student-paced education and seamless mobility.
