The CII – Pramaan Job Fair in Hyderabad on 9th and 10th November

As a part of the upcoming 7th CII Global Summit on Skill Development, a job fair is being conducted in Hyderabad on 9th and 10th November 2016. This is in partnership with Pramaan, an employment platform for blue and grey collared workforce. We spoke with T. Mahesh, CEO, Navriti Technologies,  to know more about the platform and how it works in connecting the blue and grey collared workforce with job opportunities.

Introducing Pramaan

Pramaan is a unique initiative from Navriti Technologies to create an employment platform for the blue and grey collared jobs. Pramaan partners with leading skill training providers, corporates, sourcing partners, government agencies, local administration, and industry bodies like CII to provide a pathway for jobs.

For the industry, we would provide a wide range of recruitment solutions. This would include offerings for apprentices, semi-skilled and certified candidates. Our vast network will enable  business enterprises to have access to manpower from across India. The candidates are systematically screened, scientifically matched and shortlisted for the interviews.

cii-pramaan-job-fairHow it works

We have developed a web/mobile based job exchange which would integrate a vast network of sourcing partners, placement consultants, skilling companies, manpower suppliers, verification companies and so on.

Pramaan is not like a normal job portal, where candidates are expected to come and fill in their details or submit their resumes. Since our target profile is not digitally literate,  we are providing them access through a channel network of sourcing associates who work on an incentivised system. T. MaheshT Mahesh_Navriti Technologies

The sourcing associates would work at the Taluk/Block levels, to get jobseekers to the web based platform. All the candidates would be supported by a centralised multilingual helpline.

Pramaan is partnering with training partners of NSDC, ITIs and other vocational skilling companies for providing placement support to the trained candidates. We will collaborate with the Sector Skill Councils in reaching out to the industry and provide them with a database of skilled and certified workers.

Challenges in the employment scenario

As with many developing economies, India faces the challenge of clustered industrial zones. This necessitates the workers to migrate from a source location to a job location. As India rides on a consistent economic growth we are already witnessing migration across India. There are three facets of migration: first migration is from farm to non-farm, second is from rural to urban and the third is from unorganised to organised sector jobs or from informal to formal jobs.

Unlike other job portals who are typically serving clients from Metros and Type-A cities and source the candidates locally, we would like give to the Industry a steady access to a whole new mass of people from different geographies and regions. As a part of the pilot project, we have successfully helped migrate more than 100 workers from the eastern states and help them get jobs in manufacturing units in Pune and Bangalore.

However, due to family considerations and other reasons many of the jobseekers are not able to relocate. For them, we are looking at how we can get them jobs in the nearest possible location. In the long run, using technology, we would be able to offer services at the hyper-local level for facilitating access to jobs in the same district. We want to create a pathway, solve the information asymmetry that exists today in linking skilled workforce with the right jobs.

Significance of Pramaan

Pramaan intends to play a significant role in the ‘Skill India’ and ‘Make in India’ mission. 90% of our 50 million workforce are in the unorganised sector. To fulfill the vision of making India the Skill Capital of the world, we need to organise our workforce, skill them and certify them.

We are excited to be a part of India’s industrial growth trend. Major infrastructure projects are being planned, for example, the 100 Smart Cities project is going to create a humongous demand for manpower across India. We intend to be a catalyst in helping people get better employment opportunity, job mobility and creating sustained livelihoods to make India a developed nation.

  • Technical skills may get you into a workplace. But what helps you navigate it?That was the conversation we explored last week at NSTI Women, Hyderabad, during our session on the human side of employability with the young CTS students. The students participated with enthusiasm and curiosity. A big thank you to Deputy Director Ms. Arulselvi for the warm welcome and for taking us through the institute.Walking through the practical classrooms and interacting with students and faculty gave us an immersive glimpse into the learning happening across areas such as Cosmetology, Architectural Draughtsman, Fashion Design Technology and AI & IoT.As we moved from one classroom to another, it was interesting to see the students and faculty at work and hear about their project goals and experiences. It also reinforced something we often talk about at NSN, technical learning and transferable skills cannot really be separated when we talk about employability. We left with plenty to think about, and hopefully, the students did too.#technicaltraining #employability #iti #skills #education #technology #ai
