Top 4 highlights in skill education in India

  • TMI Group celebrated their 33rd Anniversary with the theme “Creating Large Scale Sustainable Youth Employment—the Only Way Forward for Our Society” on February 11th, with Hon’ble Minister for IT, Govt. of Telangana, Shri D. Sridhar Babu as the chief guest, emphasizing on employment, skilling, and training for the Indian youth.
  • The Ministry of Education has launched the EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Program, emphasizing NEP 2020’s vision for inclusive education and commending NVS students’ efforts, with 14,000 admitted to top institutes without coaching and 70 students receiving Rs. 5 crore scholarships.
  • ASDC, under the Ministry of Skill Development, showcases skilling initiatives at Bharat Mobility Expo focusing on EV battery manufacturing, safety, recycling, and charging.
  • Over 66K UP youths employed in 2023-24 through Vocational Education & Skill Development. The UP govt facilitated jobs for 36,843 from ITIs and placed 29,354 via UP Skill Development Mission.
  • Punjab government has launched “School to Work” pilot in 40 govt. schools. Students in grades 11-12 get practical training in BFSI, beauty, healthcare, and digital design.

Augmented Reality in Fashion Industry Training Program

IFT IPS Academy, in collaboration with the National Institute of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, is hosting a FREE Augmented Reality in Fashion Industry Training Program from 19-23 Feb 2024, 10 AM-5 PM, at IFT, IPS Academy Indore.

  • India and Finland co-chaired the 1st India-Finland High Level Dialogue Meeting, which discussed enhancing ties in education and explored policies in school, vocational, and higher education, aiming to create concrete proposals for richer collaboration.
  • PM Modi inaugurated multiple projects worth over Rs. 68,000 Crore in Odisha, focusing on energy, coal, power generation, roads, railways, and aims to enhance it as an education and skill development hub.

Exclusive Opportunities: EOI and RFP Updates from TNSDC, and CGSS

TNSDC-EOI for Master Trainers and Master Assessor

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) invites Expression of Interest (EOI) for Empanelment of Master Trainer and Master Assessor for Skill Development Training’s under TNSDC. Last date to apply is March 31st, 2024. Interested and eligible candidates shall submit their application by clicking on the link here.

Capital Goods and Strategic Skill Council (CGSSC) invites Expression of Interest for Tools & Equipment Distribution in centres under PM-Vishwakarma Scheme

The EOI is published to invite manufacturers and suppliers to collaborate for providing Tools & Equipment for Capital Goods Trade at Training Centres PAN India under the PM-Vishwakarma Scheme. The last date is February 15, 2024. Click on the link here to know more: https://www.cgsc.in/

Skill India Digital Accelerator Grant

Stakeholder collaboration – Industry, Academia and Government

  • CBSE has proposed notable curriculum changes for classes 10 and 12 and will have to study three languages, with two being native Indian languages. Passing criteria will include 10 subjects for class 10 and six for class 12.
  • Carpentry skill training program was inaugurated at ITI Ganderbal under PM Vishwakarma scheme where 30 trainees will receive 5 days of Basic Skill Training, empowering local workforce.
  • Tata Group’s India Hotels Company Ltd. has established a hospitality training center near Statue of Unity for tribal youth in Narmada and is expected to train 120 youngsters in a 12-week program with job placements.
  • To enhance UP’s skilled workforce, 113 colleges offer courses like BBA (Retail), BBA (Logistics), BBA (Healthcare), and BBA (Tourism). Aligned with ODOP, courses follow national frameworks, broadening job opportunities for students.
  • APSSDC announced the launch of skills training in nursing colleges for the Skill International Programme. Nurses urged to utilize the program focusing on employment in regions like the Middle East, EU, Australia, Canada, Japan, and the USA.
  • Sodexo has partnered with Adani for youth skill development in remote areas, offering training and placement opportunities.
  • UP government to boost skill development in 47 ITI and Polytechnic Institutes via PSP Module. Private companies to play key role in training and program implementation.
  • Medulance in partnership with Robin Hood Army has launched an health academy to enhance healthcare standards in India by providing medical training courses for healthcare professionals.

Skilling and Upskilling in Emerging Technologies

  • IIT Madras has collaborated with Internshala to offer skill trainings in Ethical Hacking, Advanced Excel, Data Science, Machine Learning, SQL for Data Analytics, MATLAB and more.
  • Microsoft has launched ADVANTA(I)GE INDIA initiative to train 2 million people in AI skills by 2025, part of its broader commitment to India’s AI transformation.
