Skill development news from the government

  • In alignment with the educational needs of 21st-century learners, Skill India organised a grand ‘Kaushal Convocation’ to recognise candidates who have successfully finished their training through Skill India’s diverse programs and initiatives.
  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered a live address to students during the second annual ‘Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh’ – a Skill Convocation Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Read more…
  • The government of India announced appearing for classes 10 and 12 board exams twice a year is optional to reduce student’s stress.

  • NSDC has partnered with Coca-Cola India to launch the Super Power Retailer Program in Odisha and Uttar Pradesh, empowering retailers through the Skill India Mission. Read more…
  • RHI Magnesita India has partnered with Don Bosco Tech Society to introduce a “Youth Empowerment Program” for skill development in 6 Indian states.
  • HCCB has partnered with the Tamil Nadu government to train 5,000 individuals in Sales & Marketing in span of one year under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme via TNSDC.
  • HCL Foundation and Stanley Black and Decker have collaborated to skill Indian youth for employment in the manufacturing industry.
  • NSDC and upGrad have partnered to enhance skill development in India, offering online courses in diverse fields and joint certifications through Skill India Digital.
  • GoodWe and Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) held a two-day solar training in New Delhi to enhance knowledge on solar systems and maintenance, including a friendly skills competition.
  • Society for Human Resource Management India and Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council (HSSC) have signed an MOU to boost skill development and capacity building in India’s workforce.
  • NSDC has partnered with NCC Exchange Participants Exchange of India (EXPA) to train over 40,000 cadets with employability skills.
  • Chaabi introduces WhatsApp Learning Platform for blue-collar workforce training, featuring AI-driven Vernacular Content in 10+ Indian languages for improved accessibility and completion rates.
  • Cairn Oil & Gas partners with Jodhpur’s Agriculture University for over 15 annual training programs offering short and long-term courses to boost skill development, employment opportunities, and economic growth in the region.

Skill development news from the ITI

  • A technology center focused on Industry 4.0, in collaboration with Tata Technologies, was inaugurated at the Kolli Hills Industrial Training Institute (ITI) located in Namakkal district.
  • The Government of Assam inaugurated a skill training centre in collaboration with Larsen and Turbo at ITI Ballamguri to enhance the skills of the youth.

Skill development news from the academia

  • The Career Counselling and Placement Cell at Govt Degree College Kathua, in partnership with the Bombay Stock Exchange Ltd, has introduced a 50-hour Skill-Based Training Program focused on Mutual Funds.
  • IGNOU and Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) have renewed and revamped their MoU for academic collaboration between the two institutions.
  • The UGC has proposed draft guidelines that advocate for mandatory internships as a means to enhance the employability of undergraduate students.
  • CBSE has directed affiliated schools to launch skill hubs on their premises as part of the PMKVY 4.0 implementation.
  • GUVI, backed by IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad, to train 100,000 Tamil Nadu engineering students via hackathons for coding skills and practical experience.

Skill development news from the States/UTs

  • Andhra Pradesh: the government of Andhra Pradesh is set to launch a Rs 100-crore program in Visakhapatnam aimed at modernizing skill development and training institutes throughout the state.
  • Arunachal Pradesh: Usha International Ltd is training 10 women in Upper Subansiri district via ‘Usha Silai School’ with NGO Seva Kendra Arunachal East and District Industries Centre support.
  • Jammu and Kashmir: Indian Hotels Company has partnered with REACHA for a specialised skill centre in Kashmir to provide hospitality training and create employment prospects for the youth.
  • Karnataka: The Karnataka government is set to partner with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to enhance skill development in the fields of AI, design, and gaming.
  • Rajasthan: The Kaushal Rath initiative of the Skill India Mission has garnered nearly 300 participants from Mandaliya village in Rajasthan’s Kota district.
  • Uttar Pradesh: The Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Science and Tech Department to initiate 100+ research studies in AI and blockchain for healthcare and renewable energy, with institutions including IIT-Kanpur, MNNIT, and KGMU.
