3 Ways NTTF Pune Centre is Transforming Technical Training with Indo-Swiss Collaboration

Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF) has been at the forefront of technical education in India for over six decades. With a legacy of providing high-quality technical training, NTTF has consistently adapted to the changing needs of the industry and students alike. The NTTF Pune Centre (PNTC) is NTTF’s latest endeavour to expand its presence across India. Under the leadership of Mr. Uday Desai, Principal, PNTC, the centre is embarking on path-breaking initiatives to transform technical training with Indo-Swiss collaboration.

This article explores three ways in which NTTF is setting new benchmarks in technical training with input from Mr. Desai.

Industry collaboration and specialized courses

PNTC’s inception is marked by a unique collaboration with the Indo-Swiss Center of Excellence, a consortium of industries working closely with the Swiss government and Swiss activities in Pune. Mr. Desai explained, “This center of excellence was established to equip Indian youth with industry-relevant skills, making them job-ready or even potential entrepreneurs in Pune’s industrial hub.”

Recognizing the automotive sector’s significance in Pune, PNTC initiated two Diploma Courses: A Diploma in Electronics and Embedded System, and a Diploma in Mechatronics Engineering and Smart Factory. These six-semester programs are meticulously designed to provide students with a well-rounded education that includes Mechanical, Electronics, Computers, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and more.

As Mr. Desai emphasized, “Mechatronics plays a pivotal role because it bridges the gap between mechanical and electronic systems, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to tackle complex challenges in the industry without the blame game often seen between mechanical and electronic teams.”

PNTC places a strong emphasis on practical training, with a curriculum that allows students to gain hands-on experience. Mr. Desai notes, “In NTTF, practical exposure accounts for almost 70% of the curriculum. We believe in giving our students real-world experience, enabling them to tackle industry challenges effectively.” This approach ensures that graduates are not just theory-oriented but also proficient in applying their knowledge.

Strong industry connect and alumni network

PNTC’s strategic location in Koregaon Bhima, Pune, places it in close proximity to numerous industrial giants. The centres’ close ties with the local industries are instrumental in shaping their curriculum and ensuring the industry-readiness of the students. This connectivity extends beyond mere collaboration; it’s a dynamic partnership that benefits both students and the industry.

PNTC’s industry engagement takes various forms, including frequent industry visits, guest lectures from industry experts, and internship opportunities. These experiences expose students to real-world scenarios. As Mr. Desai explains, “Our students gain priceless insights by interacting with industry professionals and witnessing cutting-edge technologies in action.” This exposure not only enriches their practical knowledge but also opens doors to potential employment opportunities.

Furthermore, PNTC’s faculty remains well-informed about industry trends through continuous training and interactions, ensuring the curriculum stays relevant. Mr. Desai adds, “Our faculty’s industry exposure is reflected in the quality of education we offer. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship – we gain industry insights, and they benefit from our skilled graduates.”

One of NTTF’s strengths lies in its extensive alumni network. Mr. Desai recounted his visit to a local industry, ITW India Pvt Ltd., where he discovered several key positions occupied by NTTF alumni. These alumni were instrumental in driving productivity improvements, showcasing the practical skills acquired through their NTTF education. Mr. Desai proudly mentions, “There are more than 2500 to 3000 NTTF alumni in Pune alone, many of whom have become successful entrepreneurs or hold key positions in various industries. This network provides invaluable support, guidance, and placement opportunities for our current students.”

State-of-the-art infrastructure and the way ahead

PNTC is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that include the latest machines and equipment for both Electronics and Mechatronics courses. This infrastructure sets PNTC apart from others and enables students to gain hands-on experience critical to their training.

Mr. Desai detailed future plans for PNTC, including the introduction of post-diploma programs and tool design courses. These additions will address the specific needs of industries in Pune, ensuring a steady supply of skilled workers and continuous upskilling of existing employees.

In addition to student training, PNTC also has plans to train its faculty to ensure that they are up-to-date with industry trends and advancements. This commitment to excellence in education extends to both students and trainers.

As we concluded our conversation with Mr. Uday Desai, he left us with an inspiring message for aspiring technical professionals and the local community: “NTTF Pune Centre is a pioneer in industry-focused training. It equips students to become job-ready or even pursue entrepreneurship. The opportunities for candidates in Pune and surrounding areas are abundant, and we encourage them to seize these opportunities.”

PNTC’s focus on collaboration, specialized courses, strong industry connections, and continuous improvement ensures that it is at the forefront of transforming technical training. With its state-of-the-art infrastructure and unwavering commitment to nurturing talent, PNTC stands as a beacon of excellence in the world of technical education. Aspiring technical professionals and industries alike can look to PNTC as a key partner in their journey towards success.
