Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, launched The Malaviya Mission – Teacher Training Program at Kaushal Bhawan in New Delhi, along with the program’s dedicated portal and released its informational brochure.

This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, was organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to deliver tailored training programs for educators. The program’s primary focus is to enhance the skills and capabilities of faculty members within higher education institutions (HEIs) through targeted capacity-building efforts.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education; Prof. Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of UGC; Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, Vice Chairman of UGC; and Prof. Manish Joshi, Secretary of UGC. Additionally, high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Education, UGC, and Vice Chancellors from various universities were in attendance. Educators and dignitaries from the entire nation joined through virtual mode.

To facilitate this educational transformation, the UGC has created a specialized portal for faculty members to enrol in these capacity-building programs. You can access the portal at https://mmc.ugc.ac.in/.

During the program launch, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan stressed the need to enhance education quality by improving teachers and teaching methods. He also announced renaming HRDCs as Madan Mohan Malaviya Teachers’ Training Centres. The program aims to develop 15 lakh HEI teachers through 111 Malaviya Mission centres across the country. He stated that the program endeavours to make our educators future-ready with a deeper understanding of Indian values. It aims to improve the quality of teachers’ training, build leadership skills in teachers and help realize the goals of National Education Policy (NEP), he added.
