This roadshow centred on the second season of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition.

Dehradun students, who also came from the Government of Industrial Training Institute, said they want to solve real-world problems with ideas like a garbage disposal app for quicker recycling, a portable Thyroid test machine, automated waste segregation, an affordable x-ray machine, and supporting street vendors in adapting to technology.

At the event, which was organised to discuss Samsung’s global CSR program, Solve for Tomorrow, the students stated that they need platforms like Solve for Tomorrow to guide and support them in turning their ideas into action. They discussed the latest technological advances they could use to solve the problems.

For the second season of the national education and innovation competition Solve for Tomorrow, Samsung recently partnered with the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology’s (MeitY’s) Startup Hub and the Foundation for Innovation & Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi. Samsung aims to develop a culture of creative thinking and problem-solving among the country’s youth with Solve for Tomorrow.

The top three teams will win INR 1.5 crore to implement their ideas. In contrast, other participants who reach the top 30 and top 10 will be awarded at various stages of the program.

“At Samsung, harnessing the power of youth is a priority for us. This is what drives us and our global CSR vision of ‘Together for Tomorrow! Enabling People’. Giving youth a voice in real-life issues affecting communities around them allows them to see first-hand the change they can create in the world. With Samsung Solve for Tomorrow, we want to give youth that opportunity and also play our part in strengthening the innovation ecosystem in the country, taking forward the vision of the Government and our vision of Powering Digital India,” said Mr. Hyun Kim, Corporate Vice President, Samsung Southwest Asia.

Mr. Rajat Jain, the founder of Sunfox Technologies, spoke to the students about the importance of both success and failure and how he has been working across India to make healthcare more accessible and affordable. He set up a research and development lab where a smartphone-based device to address heart-related problems was created. This device can aid in the early detection of heart diseases, enabling the provision of heart care across the nation. He advised students to consider India’s problems and Solve for Tomorrow with their unique solutions.
