ESSCI Celebrates 10 Years of Accomplishment in the Electronics Sector with a Renewed Focus on New Opportunities and Industry Collaboration

A Skills Research Report on Semiconductors and Components, EMS, Hearables and Wearables, and Circularity/E-waste Management was unveiled during the event by the chief guest and other dignitaries. By offering information on the most recent developments and employment opportunities in the electronics industry, this report aims to bridge the skill gap in the industry. The event also saw the launch of the ELCINA White Paper on Workforce Development for Semiconductors in addition to the skills research report. The Electronics Olympiad, in collaboration with Common Service Centre (CSC) Olympiad, was announced during the event. This will begin the awareness of electronics and skill recognition of students in schools, colleges, and higher education institutions.

Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE, said, “ESSCI is focusing significantly on the semiconductor industry, which I believe will greatly benefit the youth. This industry offers a wide range of opportunities, and we are actively trying to change the curriculum to align with the industry’s demands. Short-term MSDE courses are specially designed to upskill and reskill individuals for the electronics industry.”

The Directorate of University and Higher Education, Manipur, represented by Dr. Rangitabali Waikhom, IAS, and ESSCI, exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start New Age Industry Integrated Programs in the Electronics and IT Sector. Building “For Industry, By Industry” targeted and advanced digital skills learning programs in collaboration with industry partners is the objective of this MoU. To facilitate on-the-job training, internships, apprenticeships, job opportunities, and entrepreneurship opportunities for students and degree-assisted apprenticeship undergraduate programs in Manipur. It also aims to establish skill labs, model training centers, and centre of excellence.

The event included a panel discussion with eminent speakers from the Indian government, business partners in the semiconductor industry, the semiconductor mission, and other pioneering leaders of the industry on the future of India’s semiconductor and component industries.

The Executive Member of NCVET, Dr. Neena Pahuja, emphasized the importance of skill development in the electronics industry and said, “One of the fastest-growing sectors in the country is electronics, and to meet the demands of the sector, skilled workers are needed. The efforts being made by ESSCI to promote educational and career opportunities in the electronics sector are commendable and will have a significant impact on how the industry shapes itself in the future.”

Mr. Amrit Manwani, Chairman of ESSCI, spoke about the event’s latest research and the potential for job opportunities and skilling in semiconductors and components, EMS, hearables and wearables, and circularity. He stated, “Electronics professionals must keep up with the most recent trends and technologies because the industry is growing rapidly. The research unveiled at the event will offer valuable insights on the industry and help in closing the talent gap “.

Dr. Ajai Choudhary, Founder of HCL and Former Chairman of ESSCI, spoke about ESSCI’s journey over the past decade, its achievements, and its contribution to skilling India in the ESDM sector. He stressed the importance of making India a product nation.

Dr. Abhilasha Gaur, Chief Operating Officer of ESSCI, said, “We are proud to have achieved several milestones and contributed considerably to the growth of the Indian electronics industry on our 10th anniversary. We are dedicated to taking ESSCI to new heights and achieving much higher success in the future.”
