Agriculture SSC wins Best Sector Skill Council Award for the fourth time

Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) has won the Best Sector Skill Council Award at theĀ  ASSOCHAM Skills Summit. This is the 4th time that ASCI has received this honour. To address the current scenario on skill development and catalyse the initiative, ASSOCHAM organised ā€œSkilling India summit & awards: Strengthening skilling and employabilityā€ on 27th November, 2019 at New Delhi.

The achievers award was conferred at the inaugural session of the summit by Shri R.K.Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

While the summit addressed the needs for skill development in India, the awards honoured and recognized organization in the private sector, PSUs, NGOs, government departments etc who have demonstrated their commitment to the advancement of skills by implementing skills development and training programs that are relevant and result oriented.

This award is in recognition of Agriculture Skill Council efforts that have supported the development of standards, facilitated flagship skill development programs viz. PMKVY , introduction of vocational courses at school, college and university level both in cities and in rural areas.

Through its robust model and partnerships, Agriculture Sector Skill Council aims to bridge skills gaps across Agriculture sector and supplement the nation’s economic growth rate flawlessly.

Dr Satender Arya , CEOĀ  ASCI shared that ASCI is not only making a substantial impact on the skill development for them but also geared up towards making a significant and lasting impact on various other stakeholders and the economy through driving national agenda of skill development in Agriculture.Ā  ASCI is making all efforts to prepare India’s manpower especially in rural areas face the challenges of transforming Indian agriculture through appropriate skilling. It has fecilitated 3.20 lacs Short Term Training and around 5.5 lac Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in 29 states and 4 Union Territories.

ASCI has taken upon itself this responsibility through developing the skills of the country’s manpower in emerging areas of agriculture viz. Farm Mechanization, Precision Farming, Agri-Information Management, Dairy Farm Management, Poultry Farm Management, Fisheries, Post Harvest Supply Chain Management, Agro Forestry, Watershed Management and Other Allied Sectors.
