JP Morgan to boost skill development in India by investing  $25 million: JP Morgan has committed to invest $25 million for the skill development among low and middle income communities in India. The corporate giant  will be working with the government and nonprofit leaders to train the workforce for high-growth sectors and align the skill sets with market trends in retail, healthcare and information technology-enabled services.

Aviation students to get skill training by Air India: To increase working shifts and revenue, Air India is going to impart skill training to aviation students at its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Shamshabad as part of the centre’s skill India programme. 147 training schools are collaborating with Air India apart from the existing three to provide skill training. 

1.6 million jobs to be created by BFSI sector: BFSI sector is going to offer over a million new jobs in the next three years. More than 50% of the jobs would need reskilling due to change in technology, 15 to 20% of the jobs would be new roles in nature. 

NBCC implemented RPL under Skill India Mission: NBCC has implemented the Recognition of Prior Learning [RPL] Programme, under skill India mission of GOI, throughout the country.  Over 2000 Workers have been assessed and certified by CSDC. Workers in 39 Job Roles assessed through written test & practical demonstration by NBCC Engineers with co-ordination of CII.

Apex Professional University signs MoU with Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council: Apex Professional University has signed an MoU with Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council(B&WSSC). This collaboration will impart skill training and will focus on the skill development of the students in Beauty and Wellness segments through appropriate study materials, e-learning tools, industry visit and OJT.

MSDE invites proposals from consultants for evaluating six schemes: MSDE has invited consultants to engage and undertake the evaluation of six Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) – Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), Enhancing Skill Development Infrastructure in the NE States (ESDI), Skill Development in 47 districts affected by left-wing extremist (LWE), up-gradation of existing government ITIs into model ITIs and up-gradation of 1396 government ITI’s through PPP.

State governments and industry commit 7 Lakh apprentices for the current fiscal year: In the 15-day Apprenticeship Pakhwada, State Governments and the industry came together for a commitment of 7 lakh apprentices in the current fiscal. 22 MoUs with Third Party Aggregators (TPAs) has been  signed so far to promote apprenticeship among the youth.

Government to provide stipend to skill up MGNREGA workers: The Union government is going to launch a new project under which a stipend of up to Rs 20,000 will be given to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) labourers who undergo training in skills such as masonry or carpentry. The project Unnati is also aimed to train unskilled MGNREGA workers. 

EHL Advisory Services partners NSDC to promote global standards of skilling in Hospitality Sector: EHL advisory services, the advisory company of Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL), Switzerland has signed an MoU with NSDC. The MoU aims to strengthen skill development of Indian youth and to upgrade skills of existing workforce to international standards in the hospitality sector.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh to collaborate with German institutes for skill development: With an objective to user technology for promoting manufacturing sector, Andhra Pradesh government is collaborating with German institutions to utilise their cutting edge technology for development of the manufacturing sector through skill development.

CIPET to be inaugurated in Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh is going to have one more Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) for Nellore. The institute will be inaugurated in Naidupet in Nellore district.

Assam

Tea Garden Students Scholarship to be introduced by Assam Government: Assam State Government is going to introduce a scholarship scheme for students of the tea tribe community studying in the 10th and 12th standards in the name of Simon Singh Horo. Under the scheme each student will get  Rs 10 thousand and the scheme would cover students of all tea gardens in the state.

Delhi

Delhi prison inmates to get hospitality training: An MoU was signed between the Prison Department and ‘Primerio’, an NGO, in the first week of September with an aim to train Delhi prison inmates in hospitality. Over 1,000 inmates lodged in prisons in Delhi will get hospitality training within a year under an initiative aimed at helping them start a new life after being released. 

Manipur

ST Chullouphai village to have new centre of JCRE Skill Solutions: To enhance the skills of youths, a new centre of JCRE Skill Solutions was inaugurated at ST Chullouphai village, Tuibong TD Block, Churachandpur. The centre aims to set up a training centre in each district of Manipur and in every state of North East and their mission is to train, skill and empower 1 lakh youth of NE India by 2023.

Rajasthan

Airbnb signs an MoU with Princess Diya Kumari Foundation to empower rural women in Rajasthan: Online accommodation platform Airbnb signed an MoU with Princess Diya Kumari Foundation (PDKF) to empower rural women in Rajasthan with micro-entrepreneurship opportunities. Through this collaboration, Airbnb and PDKF will work together to help members of the PDKF become Airbnb hosts by sharing their homes or passions with travellers from around the world. 

Telangana

The Government of Telangana to set up Technology Centres: The Government of Telangana would set up Technology Centres (TCs) and Extension Centres (ECs) in the State to help the youth get jobs in emerging technologies. The estimated cost for the set up of these centres is 300 crore.

Honda inaugurated Skill Enhancement Centre in Sircilla: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India opened its second Skill Enhancement Centre in Telangana in collaboration NSDC. The new centre will empower local youth with job-oriented technical skill training in Sircilla.
