Blockchain-powered digital certificates to redefine certification methods

Rapid technology developments are changing the time and effort that goes into various recruitment processes. Today, recruiters are faced with screening several applications to fill one position, leaving them with hardly 10 to 15 seconds to evaluate a CV. Additionally, CVs consisting of fancy jargons and sentences do not provide enough information. This has led to rising concern among recruiters about how they can gauge the skills mentioned in a resume, validate a candidate’s credentials and make the right decision.

Certif-ID invites you to experience Blockchain in digital certificates at Didac India 2019, please read further to know more!

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Blockchain in recruitment management

What’s more? Emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Blockchain, recruitment management softwares and the short span of the decision-making process puts new demands on job seekers. Potential candidates will need to ensure that their skills, knowledge and experience get the right visibility, at the right time, while also allowing recruiters to validate the skills mentioned in their resumes through a legitimate source like a certificate.

Traditionally, certificates are mostly confined to attesting a candidate’s skills and knowledge at a generic level, based on the outcome of a training or academic program. But to meet today’s job and industry needs, a candidate must be able to provide proof for the niche set of skills and knowledge he or she possesses.

An ideal candidate is not someone who has the domain skills and knowledge with the appropriate certificate, but a person who is capable of demonstrating his or her skills in a granular manner. This is essential to map the job requirements with the practical know-how of the candidates and ensure their industry-readiness. In fact, to simplify and streamline certification methods, training providers are adopting digital tools.

One reliable tool is a Digital Certificate. It is secure and allows graduates to effortlessly view, share and reorder their certificate documents. Plus, they can give permission to employers and other third parties to view and verify their documents in a simple, self-service process.

Disrupting this system is the Digital Certificate anchored in Blockchain Technology. Going beyond providing easy access to reading and reviewing resumes, it has transformed many processes including verifying the granular level of skills, optimising the student recruitment and placement process, and most importantly, validating credentials by eliminating non-core functions.

Blockchain-Powered Digital Certificates

Blockchain-powered digital certification from Certif-ID

Certif-ID, a platform powered by blockchain technology allows training institutes to issue blockchain-enabled digital certificates, making it easy for candidates to prove their skill proficiency. On Certif-ID, job seekers can upload their academic and training credentials into one secure space, known as the certification passport. Accessing this digital repository, candidates can easily share their credentials with potential employers who can then view and validate a record with a single click. Also, as the certifications issued via the platform declare the prowess of the candidate in a specific technical field, recruiters can quickly move on towards assessing the candidate.

“On the Certif-ID platform, institutes can issue blockchain-powered certificates directly into an individual’s profile or Certificate Wallet. So, there’s no room for manipulation between the point of the certificate being issued and it being visible to recruiters,” Tim Miller, Co-Founder of Certif-ID.

Blockchain powered certification for skill developmentFirst, let’s understand how Blockchain works. Consider the application of blockchain technology in a bank: it can be used to create an e-book that tracks every purchase and sale, ownership details, and even the provenance of valuables. The distributed database system that stores multiple versions of each transaction in the form of a block, secured by complex algorithms, makes it extremely difficult to hack or modify.

The decentralised system of blockchain shares the data across a network of computers, forming a digital ledger of information that is immutable. Also, each computer will have a complete copy of the ledger, so if one or two computers fail, it will not result in any data loss.

While conducting verification of a file, this distributed nature of blockchain allows anyone to check and verify the digital signature of a file across any of the computers in the network. It further makes it easier for individuals to share their certificates with prospective employers and institutions in a direct, autonomous and secure way.

Blockchain works as a platform for achieving and maintaining integrity in distributed peer-to-peer systems, removing the need for any central authority or clearinghouse.

Blockchain-enabled certificates are secure because

  • Every transaction, user credentials, certifications, contracts, assets, and identities are traceable and auditable.
  • The entries are permanent, transparent and secure, mitigating fraud.
  • Every new update is an added ‘block’ to the ‘chain’ which is managed by a blockchain protocol that initiates, validates, records and distributes information.
  • Cryptology maintains the integrity of the system instead of third-party intermediaries.
  • Using blockchain technology, Certif-ID is facilitating all stakeholders in the ecosystem to share and verify an individual’s credentials or transcripts with a single click.

Certif-ID invites you to experience Blockchain in digital certificates

This September 24 – 26, 2019, you will have the opportunity to get the first-hand experience of Certif-ID at booth No. E23 at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre. For details, please write to Rakshit Manga| rakshitmanga@certif-id.com
