Ex-Servicemen, who retire from the Indian Armed Forces, have always been enthusiastic towards continuing their contribution to the development of the country. Their experience, talent and commitment can be suitably leveraged for a second career in skill development and training. A major step towards this goal is the launch of Veteran Skilling Program for veterans from Indian Armed Forces. Developed by Learning Links Foundation (LLF) and BridgeNow Academy (BNA), the program is aimed at resettling the Ex-Sevicemen who retire after serving the Indian Armed Forces.

Learning Links Foundation (LLF), a not-for-profit organization working in the domain of quality education and skill building since 2002, is implementing this project with the grant support of The Boeing Company. This project aims to support and better the employability prospects of ex-servicemen by providing them technical skills in domain relevant to their prior work experience.

To deliver this program, LLF has partnered with BridgeNow Academy (BNA), an industry oriented technical training provider, focused on bridging the skill gap between industry and academy.

The launch of  Veteran Skilling Program at BridgeNow Academy, Bengaluru

The Veteran Skilling Program was launched at BridgeNow Academy, Bengaluru on 9th September 2019. The program will impart training to ten veterans from the Indian Air Force (IAF). These veterans have 20 plus years of experience in the aerospace and aviation domain.

Veteran Skilling Program offered by Learning Links Foundation (LLF) and BridgeNow AcademyHow the Veteran Skilling Program works

  • The veterans will undergo one-month classroom and practical training on various engineering software tools at BridgeNow Academy.
  • The curriculum (corresponding to NSQF level Technical Services Engineer job role QP AAS/ Q2101 defined by AASSC, NSDC) will equip veterans with the technical skills they need to position themselves as Aerospace Technical Publication Engineers.
  • The curriculum includes soft skills training, curated and delivered by Learning Links Foundation, to prepare them for their new role in today’s corporate environment.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, the IAF veterans will be offered assured placement with P3, an Engineering and Consulting organization that provides solutions to Aerospace, Defense, Automotive and Telecommunication domains.

peter_immanuel_ceo_bridgenow_academySpeaking on the occasion, Cdr. Rajeshwar, Associate partner- Learning Links Foundation said “there are two fold objectives of this program, first, the resettlement of immensely trained resources of Indian security forces post retirement by providing technical skill training and thus increasing their opportunity of better second career; and second, to make available highly experienced, disciplined and trained technical staff to the industry.”

Peter Immanuel, CEO, BridgeNow Academy said “We are proud to support LLF and IAF in this training program. This is a prestigious project for us, and we are excited to offer such a unique training program for our IAF veterans.”
