Association of Skill Training Providers (ASTP) appoints Navanit Samaiyar as the next CEO

Association of Skill Training Providers (ASTP), a registered non-government, not-for-profit society, formed as a national alliance of skill training service provider companies, announced the appointment of Navanit Samaiyar as the Chief Executive Officer. In his role, Navanit will be responsible for furthering the vision of ASTP as a unique, credible and enabling platform to highlight and help resolve issues which concern the entire sector or sub-sectors engaged in skill building and training. Navanit will work together with the member organizations to facilitate in creation of a self-regulatory framework for the skills space. More importantly, this will be the launchpad for creating a vibrant Skilling culture in the country and create a nationwide awareness towards the work being done by the skilling industry to aid in the country’s progress.

Navanit is an industry veteran with over 30 years’ experience having played significant roles in various organisations like GE, Genpact, IBM, Tatas, Reliance etc. He has also been a serial entrepreneur and has dabbled in HiTech, Healthcare retail, Education and Floriculture sectors. He firmly believes the next wave of India’s growth will come from the Skilling industry and that ASTP has a significant role in ensuring the industry gets its much deserved impetus. Navanit is an Engineer from IIT and an MBA from XLRI.

On the appointment, Rajiv Sharma, President, ASTP said ” We are delighted to have Navanit on board to share his insights and expertise to help grow our industry. This is a significant move towards building the association and ensuring we work with the skilling eco-system to achieve the employment goals of the country. With years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience Navanit is well suited to lead the organization at this stage and help us contribute to our employability goals as an Industry body.”

Navanit Samaiyar, the new CEO of ASTP, said, “India today enjoys a demographic advantage with 65% of its youth in the working age group. However, a large percentage of this youth are from smaller towns or not so privileged sections of the society with limited or no employable skills. Therefore, right skilling holds the key to success not just for the youth but for the entire economy, and I am grateful to ASTP for giving me an opportunity to drive the skills training industry at this critical juncture.”

About ASTP

ASTP is a Registered Non- Government, not for profit Society comprising Skill Training Companies, Technology solution providers, Content developers and Placement companies all together committed to promote high quality skill training and employment to India’s underprivileged. Its members are operational across the length and breadth of the nation and are the key stakeholders for implementation of the National Skill Mission through schemes like PMKK, PMKVY, DDUGKY, NULM, USTAAD among others and between them cover almost 75% of total skilling target mandated by NSDC.

It works in collaboration with NSDC and holds consultative status at the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to push for ethical standards in skilling, to provide feedback on youth’s interests and aspirations on skill programs and to reach out to skill hundreds of youth across India. ASTP aims to add value to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision and thus approach all skill training activities keeping in mind students’ and employer’s perspective together and help develop skills ideally suited for the industry thus bridging the skills demand supply gap. The association is also committed towards creating a brand for India’s skilled manpower within the country and also in the Global Skilling landscape.
